3 things WWE got right on this week's RAW and 2 things they got wrong (April 15, 2019)

Another episode of Monday Night RAW is in the history books and the Superstar Shake-up has rocked the red brand to its core.

As night one of the two-day extravaganza got underway, nobody was safe from being moved around, and the company's flagship show certainly got some huge picks on their night.

From a certain Phenomenal former WWE Champion making his return to the red brand in nearly three years, to some huge call-ups to the main roster from NXT.

But not everything was plain sailing for the longest running weekly episodic show in WWE history, as RAW also featured some setbacks.

Here are three things WWE got right on this week's edition of Monday Night RAW, as well as two things that could have been a whole lot better.

#3 Got it right: The Shane-Miz saga continues

After losing at WrestleMania 35, The Miz refused to walk away from his war with Shane McMahon
After losing at WrestleMania 35, The Miz refused to walk away from his war with Shane McMahon

After months of being associated together, both as friends and foes, Shane McMahon and The Miz met in an epic Falls Count Anywhere match on WrestleMania 35.

A match that saw the pair fight all around the MetLife Stadium, it was Shane O'Mac who emerged the victor, pinning the A-Lister after a huge Superplex.

Though many thought this would be the end of the pair's feud, this thankfully wasn't the case, as Miz attacked Shane last night, after being revealed as the latest draftee to Monday Night RAW, and thanks to a steel chair, got some payback for his father.

Though Miz being on the red brand seemingly kills off his feud with the SmackDown Live commissioner, I'm predicting these two will have at least one more huge match before they part ways.

#2 Got it wrong: More name changes

The Viking Experience now on RAW

Man, the WWE sure do love changing Superstar names.

I'm not quite sure why, though I guess shortening a star's name does make branding easier, but it still seems like a weird thing to do, considering these stars get established in NXT under a full name.

This week on RAW it was the former War Raiders, now known as The Viking Experience, consisting of Erik (Rowe) and Ivar (Hanson), who have joined the RAW roster.

Their name change is the latest in the trend of recent years that has seen plenty of superstar names shortened, including Rusev, Ali, Andrade, Konnor, Viktor, Cesaro, Rowan, Harper, Big E, Elias, and others.

That being said, the Viking Experience is a fantastic team, the current NXT Tag Champions, and will hopefully be a breath of fresh air to the RAW tag division.

#2 Got it right: Andrade kicks off his RAW career in a huge way

Andrade planted the Intercontinental Champion to get one of his biggest wins ever in his RAW debut

Andrade has been a huge star in WWE already.

Shockingly capturing the NXT Championship years ago, the former developmental star was called to the main roster in 2018 and has been a consistent mid-card Superstar over on SmackDown Live.

Despite impressing on the blue brand, Andrade has never held championship gold on SmackDown Live, though hopes are high for that rut to change now he has become a RAW Superstar.

Appearing on the red brand for the first time ever, Andrade certainly started strong, defeating reigning Intercontinental Champion, Finn Balor.

Will El Idolo be the man to topple Balor and capture the historic title from him?

Expect big things from these two former NXT Champions in the coming months on Monday Night RAW.

#2 Got it wrong: The trio that will not end

Many fans thought they'd seen the end of Lashley, Corbin, and McIntyre
Many fans thought they'd seen the end of Lashley, Corbin, and McIntyre

I like Drew McIntyre. I like Bobby Lashley. I even like Baron Corbin.

But man, if I have to watch these three team up one more time, I don't know what I'll do!

It seems like the trio of heels have been teaming for a lifetime, as the group seemingly aren't over with the crowd.

Facing off in the main event of this week's show, all three men impressed but didn't leave me wanting to see more of this team.

Many fans, in particular, feel for the Scottish Terminator, who fans believe is being held down by the team and could be, and in many fans view, should have already been a Universal Champion as a singles star.

With McIntyre rumored to be joining SmackDown Live tonight, hopefully, this will mark the end of the group.

#1 Got it right: RAW is Phenomenal once more

Styles returned to the flagship show to team with Roman Reigns and Universal Champion, Seth Rollins
Styles returned to the flagship show to team with Roman Reigns and Universal Champion, Seth Rollins

It has been nearly three years since AJ Styles competed on Monday Night RAW, but last night that streak was broken as the Phenomenal One was revealed as the final draft pick for Monday Night RAW.

With Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Bobby Lashley scheduled to face Universal Champion Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, it was Styles who made it a fair fight, joining the Shield brothers.

Since being drafted to SmackDown Live in the 2016 brand extension, Styles has been a firecracker, becoming United States Champion and a two-time WWE Champion, with one of these world title reigns lasting over a year from November 2017 to November 2018.

We're sure that Styles is hoping to make Monday Night RAW the house that AJ Styles built as well.
