There were many questions raised when she showed signs of turning heel by viciously attacking Shayna Baszler at NXT TakeOver: XXV. Triple H and the NXT creative team just gave us the reason to love them even more as the move has turned out to be a masterpiece.
Tonight, the Japanese star squared off against her former friend Candice LeRae in an amazing match. This match was way better than the NXT Women's Championship match between Shayna Baszler and Mia Yim. With a solid win over Candice, Io is on her way to the top of the roster on her own.
The NXT Women's Champion, Shayna Baszler has been booked as a dominant force, and after crushing almost every woman on the roster, it looks like a heel Io Shirai will be the one to finally dethrone her.
In my prediction, Io will become the next NXT Women's champion at the NXT TakeOver: WarGames, scheduled to take place this November. As for Shayna, she might move to the main roster soon after that.
