The day that Kofi Kingston became the WWE Champion was an unusual day in WWE, as fans never thought that their favourite New Day member would go on to fulfilling his dream of becoming more than what his supposed to be. It has been well documented that WWE only gave Kofi the WWE Championship due to fans demanding it, however, what most do not realise is they could take the title away from Kofi for the exact same reason.
WWE is sort of undergoing a ratings crisis at the moment, which has seen the company produce some unsatisfactory ideas to combat this problem. Moreover, many things the company has done over the last few months are starting to be reevaluated by Vince McMahon. From the women main eventing Wrestlemania to the choice of drafting some of their biggest stars to Smackdown Live, many decisions are starting to be criticised.
While this may come as a shock to you, Kofi's WWE Title reign could be one of those things reevaluated. Now Kofi is a top star that has made Smackdown Live more interesting, but you got to feel that it will only be a matter of time before WWE end his title reign. So the question is, how will it end?
#3 Fox-Catcher
Kofi has been a wonderful addition to Smackdown Live ever since WWE gave him the green light as the newest main event star on the brand, as his feud with Vince Mcmahon and Daniel Bryan was the best part of Smackdown Live during the build-up to Wrestlemania. However, Smackdown Live is in line for a face lift in a couple of months.
FOX will be the new home of the brand, and that has seen WWE make a lot of changes to their rosters for that change, but the introduction of the Wild Card Rule has seen those changes being thrown out the door. Still, if there has been one interesting development for the brand moving to FOX, it could be Brock Lesnar winning the Money in the Bank contract.
Many believe that Lesnar will cash in the contract on Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, but what if WWE has other plans in mind for Lesnar? It's no secret that FOX wants Smackdown Live to be a UFC type show, where the narratives are promoted like real fights, and in WWE it doesn't get any more real than Brock Lesnar as the top champion.
#2 Big E Buys In
The New Day is one of the best factions assembled over the last few years, as these are three men that came from all corners of this industry, but managed to wind up together and serve as the cornerstones of Raw and Smackdown Live during the company's bad times. Therefore, that made them bonafide stars in the eyes of Vince McMahon.
The New Day is a money act, but over time everything great has to come to a close, and even though there is little proof that The New Day could break up, it's a possibility that fans may have to consider. We saw Kofi say that the New Day will never break apart, as they all function better when together.
On the flip side of things, we saw Kevin Owens almost turn Big E against his New Day brothers when he was out injured, and if there one superstar that WWE needs to make a star from the trio, it is Big E. Big E is the next big thing, as there is no doubt in anyone's mind that the powerhouse of the trio could be WWE's next big main eventer.
In fact, maybe Kofi's entire title reign was building up for that to happen. Big E could be the man to take Kofi out, as that would be one of the biggest heels turns in WWE, as the emotion that would go into a narrative like that makes it amazing to witness.
#1 The Wild Card Rule Catches Up
The Wild Card Rule has seen Kofi defend his title on many occasions throughout the last few weeks, as many have even said that Kofi has defended his World Title more times in the last three weeks than Brock Lesnar has ever done in his entire reign. However, being a fighting champion is something that will be Kofi's defining legacy, but living to fight another day is something the champion should consider.
You never know when will be the day when Kofi bites off more than he can chew, as AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens are impressive names that Kofi has all defeated in the last few weeks. Furthermore, it would honestly be a shocker if Kofi lost his title on a random episode of Raw or Smackdown Live after defeating those stars.
