WWE SmackDown is preparing for its season premiere episode on the USA Network on Friday, September 13, 2024. Thus, we should expect exciting things to happen, with the Steel Cage match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Championship set to main event the show.
At the same time, there have been a few superstars who are trying to build some momentum or find a new storyline that would help them get a push in WWE. With that in mind, we take a look at three SmackDown Superstars who should undergo a change in their creative direction soon:
#3. Andrade

Andrade hasn't become a huge factor in WWE since his return a few months ago. Aside from a feud with The Judgment Day on RAW, he hasn't accomplished anything significant during his time on SmackDown.
He is now in a feud with Carmelo Hayes, one which really doesn't really seem to be headed anywhere, meaning that he needs a different direction and a new storyline to work on.
It would make sense to see him find a partner and go after the Tag Team Champions, The Bloodline. Alternatively, he could side with his wife, Charlotte Flair, when the latter returns to create a mixed tag team.
The other scenario would be to have a heel turn and challenge either the United States Champion, LA Knight, or the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
#2. Carmelo Hayes
He was quite impressive early in his stint on SmackDown last spring, but recently he has dropped to mid-card. Like in Andrade's case, the feud between the two doesn't have a direction and isn't going anywhere.
He could remain a heel for now and go after the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, or have a face turn and join him and Roman Reigns against Solo Sikoa and the new version of The Bloodline.
This move would also help him re-ignite the feud he had with Solo Sikoa on NXT back in 2022 before the latter moved to SmackDown and sided with Reigns.
#1. Austin Theory
The former Tag Team Champion needs to have a new direction as soon as possible. He had a great stint as a heel next to Grayson Waller, becoming the Tag Team Champions on SmackDown, but the duo has reached a crossroads and they both need a change.
Should he have a face turn, he could betray his partner and start a feud with him, which could continue for weeks or even months.
Alternatively, he could remain a heel and go on a singles run, attempting to become a champion. In that case, he would go after the two champions, Cody Rhodes and LA Knight, aiming to get a title opportunity.
That said, the season premiere of SmackDown should shed more light on the future of the three superstars because the show would be the perfect place to make a statement.
On another note, Andrade and Carmelo Hayes will continue their feud as they are set to face each other on Friday night.
