Robert Roode had perhaps the most memorable return to the ring last night when he was the man who stepped up and answered Drew McIntyre's WWE Championship open challenge.

The two men have history. It was McIntyre that dethroned Roode of the NXT Championship a few short years ago, which made for a more interesting match on RAW.
Roode has been away from WWE TV for around six months after the lockdown meant that he was unable to travel to Orlando and compete at the Performance Center.
Recent rumors suggested that Roode could be set to make his return. However, it was only when Dolph Ziggler told Adam Pearce he had the perfect challenger that the WWE Universe realized that Roode was about to make his return.
Roode came up short in the match, despite almost pinning McIntyre after a Glorious DDT. It was a Claymore that finally defeated the returning star. The match also saw Ziggler attempt to help Roode at ringside. However, even as a two-on-one match, McIntyre was able to walk out with his championship.
