#1 Continued: Finn Balor

Perhaps the most famous time that a WWE star continued the match whilst injured was at SummerSlam in 2016 when Finn Balor went on to win the Universal Championship in his bout with Seth Rollins.

The two men were fighting it out to be crowned the first Universal Champion, but when Rollins threw Balor into the barricade mid-way through the match, it caused a serious shoulder injury.

Balor could be seen putting his shoulder back into its socket after the move, but still continued the match and was crowned Universal Champion. He was the first Superstar to win the title since it had only been introduced to the Raw roster following the brand split a few weeks earlier.

The following night on RAW, The Demon King was forced to relinquish his first main roster WWE Championship when it was revealed that the injury was much worse than first feared.

Interestingly, Balor was then out of action until the following year when he returned the night after WrestleMania to partner none other than his former WWE rival, Seth Rollins.
