3 WWE Superstars fans should expect to see in AEW, and 2 they shouldn't

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past week, you'll have heard about All Elite Wrestling.

The brainchild of Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, AEW will be a new promotion in the United States, and has gotten fans buzzing about who will join.

Some huge names have been confirmed already, including former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho, who has since been edited out of WWE intros, and his profile moved to the company website's alumni section.

Despite this snub by the company, there's no shortage of WWE Superstars (both present and past) who would make great additions, as well as some we don't want to see as part of the upcoming promotion.

Here are three WWE Superstars fans should expect to see be a part of All Elite Wrestling, and two they shouldn't hold their breath for.

#3 Should expect: Hideo Itami

Hideo Itami has struggled to make waves, despite being one of Triple H's biggest signings to NXT.
Hideo Itami has struggled to make waves, despite being one of Triple H's biggest signings to NXT.

Perhaps the most damning part of this, is that I had to google to find out if Hideo Itami was still part of the WWE.

Part of the 'NXT Five' (Himself, Owens, Zayn, Neville, and Balor), Itami was seemingly destined for a huge push, which never materialized thanks to an injury.

Being written out of storylines with a mystery attacker, Itami's return had little fanfare, with their never even being a confirmed attacker.

Now a part of 205 Live, Itami isn't even close to the main event of the show, as it seems the company has nothing for him.

Joining AEW would be a huge step for the Japanese Superstar, who would be given a lot more flexibility to showcase his incredible skills outside of the WWE.

#2 Shouldn't expect: AJ Styles

Despite some slow contract negotiations, Styles is expected to re-sign with WWE.
Despite some slow contract negotiations, Styles is expected to re-sign with WWE.

AJ Styles' contract with WWE is coming to an end, and the Phenomenal One has certainly made the most of his three years with the company.

A former two-time WWE Champion, the company clearly has faith in Styles, letting him hold the title for over a year, and be a part of some of their biggest matches in recent history.

With Styles' contract coming to an end this April though, efforts to re-sign the Smackdown Live Superstar have been slow due to negotiations, with some wondering whether he will re-sign at all.

However, WWE certainly can provide Styles more from a business aspect, including more money, a much bigger platform, and more out-of-WWE ventures.

Whilst Styles may go to AEW for the challenge, fans shouldn't expect to see him outside of WWE in the coming years.

#2 Should expect: Apollo Crews

A former star on the indie scene, Crews has suffered in WWE.
A former star on the indie scene, Crews has suffered in WWE.

Apollo Crews is a rare phenomenon in WWE.

A highly athletic Superstar, with an incredible look, Crews has the making of a champion in WWE, even if his promo skills are a tad bland.

But despite his athleticism, Crews has struggled in the company since he joined the main roster, and has become something of a running joke with fans online.

Even with the rumors that Crews will receive a big push soon, fans aren't exactly convinced and are instead expecting the former Uhaa Nation to leave the company this year.

If he does, he would probably fair better in AEW, as one of the most athletic men in the new promotion, and as he approaches year four of his WWE career, with no major victories or titles, what does he have to lose?

#1 Shouldn't: CM Punk

CM Punk has said he has left wrestling behind, after leaving WWE in 2014.
CM Punk has said he has left wrestling behind, after leaving WWE in 2014.

The second that AEW was announced, fans began to speculate: will CM Punk join? And I hate to break it to those fans, but the answer is seeming no.

Punk, who left the WWE in January 2014, has made it clear that he does not intend to wrestle ever again, instead focussing on his MMA career, where he is 0-2.

Whilst fans are certain that Punk will eventually return, the Voice of the Voiceless has cut ties with several friends of his in the industry, and is even involved in a lawsuit with best friend Colt Cabana.

Even when Rhodes and the Bucks hosted ALL IN, their independent supershow, in Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois, Punk didn't show, perhaps the most damning statement that he has hung up his kick pads for good.

#1 Should expect: Bill Goldberg

Goldberg as Universal Champion.
Goldberg as Universal Champion.

A former WCW, WWE World Heavyweight and Universal Champion, Bill Goldberg is a draw wherever he goes.

Evidence of this was his recent run, where after being away from the company for 12 years, Goldberg had a maelstrom of success, including entering WrestleMania 33 as champion.

The former Atlanta Falcon is already rumored to be signing with AEW soon, though the WWE will certainly be hoping to snuff that out.

At 52 years old, Goldberg has very little to prove in WWE, making it all the more interesting for fans, and for the man himself, if he were to join the new promotion.

Goldberg is a risk-taker after all, as he has admitted he was worried about fan's reactions in 2016, making his potential signing to AEW all the more interesting to see what would happen, and more importantly, who's next?!
