Back in 2003, John Cena was donning the gimmick of a rapper and was slowly climbing up the ranks on WWE SmackDown. He bagged a WWE title shot against Brock Lesnar at Backlash 2003, but didn't win the belt.

Soon after, Cena faced WWE veteran Billy Gunn on an episode of SmackDown, but lost that match, too. The duo never locked horns in a singles match ever again, and thus Gunn is undefeated against John Cena to this day.
John Cena and Billy Gunn met again on SmackDown a year later, in an 8-Man Elimination match for the US title. In the end, Booker T won the belt, with both Cena and Gunn being eliminated.
John Cena got several opportunities as he made his way to SmackDown's main event scene, while Gunn was soon released by WWE. Cena finally got an opportunity at JBL's WWE title at WrestleMania 21 in Hollywood, where he won his first world title. The rest, as they say, is history.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
