30-year-old WWE star to challenge for LA Knight’s US Title on SmackDown? Insight into possibility

LA Knight became the new United States Champion after triumphing over Logan Paul at SummerSlam. He put an end to his feud with Paul by dethroning him, and he is now ready for the first WWE Superstar that will step up and challenge him.

LA Knight is expected to be a fighting champion, and the August 9 episode of Friday Night SmackDown should shed more light on what is next for the new champion.

Still, one WWE Superstar who could step up and challenge for the title is Carmelo Hayes, who has made quite an impression since moving to the main roster during the Draft back in late April.

LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes have already had a feud

LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes have been feuding since the latter joined the SmackDown roster. Melo confronted Knight during the King of the Ring Tournament in May and LA's rivalry with Logan Paul.

Thus, WWE could take it to the next level and have the 30-year-old star challenge the reigning champion to a title match at Bash in Berlin, which would help complete the rivalry.

Carmelo Hayes has done a great job as a heel

Ever since his debut on SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes has not been a babyface. Instead, he has been a heel and has stepped up against some of the top faces in WWE, like Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

As Knight is a top babyface and a fan favorite, setting a title match with Carmelo would make perfect sense for WWE.

Carmelo Hayes deserves a title shot

Carmelo Hayes has yet to get a title shot since moving to SmackDown, and he could lose his momentum if WWE doesn't give him a title opportunity soon.

Hayes could step up and confront the new US champion, making it clear that he deserves a title shot and should be the first to get that opportunity.

This would help Carmelo Hayes get back on track and start building some momentum again.
