#3 His Unconventional Route
After Drew was first released by WWE, he went back to the independent scene to improve his craft and work on himself. During that time he transformed himself physically as well, and turned into one imposing character in the ring. Seeing his progress, WWE wanted him back, but Drew wanted to go through the developmental route.
As a former Intercontinental champion and a former Tag Team Champion, Drew could have done what many of the other established wrestlers did and walk straight back into the WWE main roster.
But instead Drew opted to first go to NXT, prove himself there and then ultimately make the jump to the either Raw or SmackDown after first warming up to the viewers. By looking at the results we can say that the gamble has paid off for him.
