It has been a big month for avid wrestling fans, as a new era in professional wrestling has arrived. AEW debuted on TV with their new weekly show Dynamite. SmackDown also made its debut on FOX and the Blue brand's new era is off to a tremendous start.

The Rock made his return to WWE for the first time since WrestleMania 32. 'The Brahma Bull' had an exciting segment with Becky Lynch and Baron Corbin, delivering his signature People's Elbow and Rock Bottom to King Corbin. Although 'The Great One' recently announced his retirement, his segment on the SmackDown FOX debut raised the possibility of one final farewell match. Wrestling is filled with Superstars who return to the ring after hanging up their boots, and the same could happen for The Rock.

Several gigantic names have returned to compete at the 'Showcase of the Immortals,' and the next WrestleMania is less than six months away. Here we discuss four possible opponents for The Rock, if he participates at WrestleMania 36.

#4. Randy Orton

Randy Orton recently swapped brands, getting drafted to RAW. It was the first time 'The Apex Predator' changed brands since the re-introduction of the brand split. After a decent run on SmackDown, the former WWE Champion should continue to do well on the Red brand.

Orton's last feud was with Kofi Kingston, competing for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam and Clash of Champions. Orton will be part of Crown Jewel, where will lead Team Ric Flair against Team Hulk Hogan.

Orton is one of the biggest names in WWE history, and could have an outstanding feud with The Rock. Both The Rock and Randy Orton are third generation Superstars, and a WrestleMania bout could allow them to prove their supremacy in the wrestling business. In fact, Orton called out 'The Great One' for a match at WrestleMania 36, after The Rock made an appearance on SmackDown's FOX debut.

'The Viper' and 'The Brahma Bull' share a total of twenty-three WWE Championships between them. Although the two Superstars had segments in the past, they never had a match in the squared circle. A match between Orton and The Rock would be a huge draw, and it could main event the 'Showcase of the Immortals.'

#3. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is definitely one of the biggest stars in the company, and he was drafted to the Red brand in the recent draft. As a matter of fact, he was picked in the first round of the draft despite currently being sidelined with an injury. This move further displays his importance to WWE.

McIntyre has ascended to the top of the ladder since making his return to WWE. While he won the NXT Title, McIntyre has been equally impressive on the main roster. Although McIntyre is yet to win the Universal Title, he has already achieved some impressive feats.

If The Rock wants to face a top WWE heel, McIntyre would an ideal choice. 'The Scottish Psychopath' is known to deliver captivating promos, and he could bring the best out of 'The Brahma Bull.'

#2. AJ Styles

AJ Styles is a proven veteran in the squared circle, making him a worthy opponent for The Rock at WrestleMania 36. Styles has dominated RAW over the past few months, since reuniting The OC with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

'The Phenomenal One' is currently the holder of the United States Title. He had a fantastic feud with Cedric Alexander, but the champion is yet to find his next challenger. After making his WWE debut in 2016, Styles has been a force to be reckoned with, winning multiple titles. Besides the US Championship, Styles also held the WWE Title twice in his career.

There is no doubt that 'The Phenomenal One' has been on an unprecedented run since turning heel. If Styles wrestles The Rock at the 'Showcase of the Immortals,' he could create nuclear heat. The Rock and CM Punk had a fantastic feud a few years ago when the latter had The Shield as back ups. A feud between Styles and The Rock could turn out to be similar, considering Styles also has two back ups in Gallows and Anderson.

#1 Roman Reigns

There are many dream matches fans want to see, and a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock is certainly one of them. Given the stature of both Reigns and The Rock, the two Superstars would likely main event WrestleMania 36. When 'The Great One' returned on SmackDown's FOX debut, many fans wanted to see a segment between he and Reigns, but it didn't happen.

After being a RAW mainstay for three years, 'The Big Dog' moved to SmackDown in May. Reigns had two lengthy rivalries with Shane McMahon and Erick Rowan respectively. However, Reigns has not been in the WWE Championship picture since moving to the Blue brand.

Reigns recently stated that he is interested in having a match with The Rock. Meanwhile, the two Superstars already shared the ring in the past, as The Rock came back to save Reigns at the 2015 Royal Rumble. Given The Rock and Roman Reigns are cousins, their feud could be interesting with the involvement of other family members. Reigns could be a perfect opponent to retire The Rock, if 'The Brahma Bull' wrestles for the last time at WrestleMania 36.
