Ricochet is one of the most gifted performers in all of professional wrestling, and he's proven that in whatever company he works for, and after a brief rundown in NXT, he recently made his RAW and Smackdown Live debut alongside Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano and Aleister Black.
In terms of in-ring style, Ricochet stands head and shoulders above most high-fliers in the world, and it's clear that the WWE Universe are going to fall in love with The One and Only, but the WWE have to do their due diligence to make sure this happens.
With WrestleMania less than 2 months away, a big-time bout for The Future of Flight is necessary to get him over completely, as he is a main event player waiting to happen. So without further ado, here are 4 potential opponents on the Grandest Stage of Them All for WWE's hottest new star, Ricochet.
#4 R-Truth - WWE United States Championship
R-Truth winning the US title was a great reward for the loyalty and great work he's done over the past 10 years, but he's just not Championship material in 2019, so Ricochet would be a great contender to take that title away. That's not to take anything away from Truth, but in 2019, he's just not that relevant, and with young, rising stars like Ricochet taking over, he just shouldn't be a champion.
He's still a decent in-ring performer and going up against The One and Only would give him the best opportunity for an amazing match, and it would give Ricochet his first signature WrestleMania moment.
We haven't seen Truth do much of anything since winning that title several weeks back, and simply put, with a young, high-flying star such as Ricochet winning the belt, it will make it much more exciting than Truth could ever make it, so all in all, this is a very real possibility, and a great one.
#3 Andrade
Andrade is one of the fastest rising stars in the WWE, and he's proven that through a series of incredible matches with Rey Mysterio, so why not put him in the ring with a younger, more innovative high-flier like Ricochet?
As characters, the two are polar opposites, but they're both incredibly smooth performers with versatile arsenals, and if they wanted to steal the show at WrestleMania, they could do just that.
Andrade's immediate future seems to be involving Mysterio still, despite the fact they've already faced off several times, but if the WWE is aiming to get the best out of both men in the future, this is a great way to start.
Any of the 4 men who were recently promoted to RAW and Smackdown Live would make for great opponents for Andrade, but Ricochet and Andrade's style just mesh so well together, and if given 10 minutes on the main card, they'd steal the show.
#2 Finn Balor - WWE Intercontinental Championship
Ricochet made his WWE debut as the tag team partner of Finn Balor against Lio Rush and Bobby Lashley, but it has been rumoured that Finn was meant to be his opponent on Monday Night RAW. The match we got was great, because it didn't over-expose Ricochet's amazing arsenal, and it saved this money match for a much bigger stage like WrestleMania 35.
Some may not like a new competitor jumping the cue like this and getting a shot straight away, but Ricochet is clearly the main event star waiting to happen, and the WWE should capitalise on that immediately.
In-ring wise, this match would arguably be the best on the entire card, and even if The One and Only doesn't come away with the iconic Intercontinental Championship, he'll make a lot of people in the WWE Universe stand up and take notice.
#1 Buddy Murphy - WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Ever since winning the Cruiserweight Championship in his hometown of Melbourne, Buddy Murphy has been on an absolute tear, and it's left him with barely any credible challengers. Sure, 205 Live could choose a performer from their brand that's been working hard for a while, but if the cruiserweights want to make it onto the main show, then Ricochet is a great choice.
Both men can fly around with the best of them, and considering the matches that Buddy has put together with some lesser high-fliers, the magic that he could make with Ricochet could truly put 205 Live on the map.
While this one is the best option, it may be the least likely, as 205 Live have started running a tournament for the #1 contender spot, but if the WWE is smart and want to get the most out of this title match and Ricochet, the two sides need to come together.
