Cesaro, Baron Corbin, Big Show and Mojo Rawley. What's common amongst all of them? They all won Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. What else is common amongst all of them? No one got any importance after winning the match.
The only person who is really successful amongst the four is Cesaro. But, he got that success because he excelled as a wrestler in the Tag Team Division. Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has been a dud for the past 4 years. But, this year it is going to be grand.
HBO has made a documentary on Andre the Giant, so, the management of WWE is going to make the match a grand affair and the winner might get a huge push. These are the four people who are the potential winner of the match.
#4 Elias
It is very evident that Elias is getting a major push in WWE these days. He has faced the likes of Braun Strowman, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Matt Hardy etc. in a short period. His promos on RAW with the guitar is entertaining and he has proved that entertainment is also required to survive in WWE.
Elias has said that creative freedom is the key to his character’s success in WWE. His booking with major stars gave him an amazing push which can lead to him becoming a major heel in RAW.
This year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Match is going to be a big deal in WWE. Previous year’s winners didn’t get any major push and they were soon lost in obscurity. Elias is already getting a good push and if he wins this year’s Battle Royal, then he can get a character push and also, prove to be a good heel.
#3 Rusev
The Bulgarian brute didn’t get a proper push in RAW and he moved to SmackDown Live. His move proved to be a successful one. His recent gimmick of Rusev Day has been quite a successful one and he is extremely famous amongst the WWE fans.
In 2016, he lost the US Title to John Cena and since then, he has lost himself in WWE. His Rusev day gimmick has become very famous amongst the fans and his pairing with Aiden English has become a blockbuster.
If Rusev wins the Battle Royal, then he can get a major character push which can lead to him winning more championships in future. He won his last championship two years back in Extreme Rules. It’s been long and as his character is very famous is WWE, he should get a chance to fight for championships.
#2 Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin is becoming stale in SmackDown Live. He doesn’t have much of a feud going on. He is added to the Fatal Five- way match which everyone knows he is not going to win. He is one of the top heels of Smackdown Live and he has the potential to be the indestructible but only if he gets a major push.
He can earn that major push in WM 34 after winning the Battle Royale. He needs to get a tinge of freshness in his character as it is not seeing any growth. He can be a potential winner of the match because he is one of the strongest contenders. He can also receive a huge push because he has won the Battle Royale once before.
#1 Tye Dillinger
Tye Dillinger has immense popularity amongst the fans in WWE. His ‘No.10’ gimmick in WWE has garnered a lot of popularity in NXT and then he shifted to SmackDown Live and even there he gets a lot of ‘No.10’ chants.
He has been off SmackDown Live for a while now. Tye Dillinger has appeared in several dark matches but not in any major matches. The most likely answer to his disappearance is the time crunch. SmackDown Live is a two-hour show and to accommodate every superstar in those 120 minutes, Tye Dillinger has been off the main program for the past two and a half months.
He was a big star in NXT, but he is not getting the similar push that he received in NXT. His match with Andrade Cien Almas was widely appreciated. If he is being kept off from television for such a long time, WWE might be planning a huge push for him.
