After trying to get released for a long time, Tye Dillinger recently got his wish when WWE decided to release Dillinger, along with Hideo Itami and TJ Perkins.

For quite a long time, WWE was the be all and end all in the professional wrestling industry. WWE always considered itself to be in the top of the food chain. WWE projected to the audience that most of the WWE superstars dreamt of getting a WWE contract. That has been the truth for quite a while now.

However, the landscape of professional wrestling is changing - in a slow but steady pace. WWE is no longer the dream destination for the superstars. There is a large number of wrestling promotions which are more than willing to give a chance to anyone who has a passion for the art of professional wrestling.

Many WWE superstars have left the largest wrestling promotion in the world to venture the paths of the independent circuit. The outflow of talents is more than ever. In this thread, we will take a look at a few reasons why many WWE wrestlers are trying to leave WWE.

#4 More alternatives than ever

AEW is on the rise.

As said before, there are a lot of wrestling promotions in the modern world of wrestling. If one is ready to work hard, he or she can make as much money as what one was making in WWE.

Moreover, with the global scale widespread of the internet, most wrestling promotions can now boast of a better reach due to online platforms. Thus, if a superstar feels that he is more talented than what WWE gives him credit for, he could simply ask for a release and venture the indie scenes.

#3 Creative control and less stringent promos

For many wrestlers, money is not the only thing that matters. Most WWE Superstars have no control over their character and are forced to deliver whatever lines that are given to them. A slight deviation from the script can potentially lead to strict actions.

If you have any doubt, ask "The Monster Among Men" Braun Strowman. In early 2017, while Strowman was still fresh with a mic on his hands, he accidentally used the term "title shot" instead of "title match". That angered the WWE CEO Vince McMahon, and according to Mick Foley, McMahon immediately lost his cool after hearing this.

Since Strowman was Vince's project, he got away with it. However, other mid-card or undercard wrestlers could get into serious trouble if they were to make such a small mistake.

On the other hand, the creative freedom is more lenient in the independent scene.

#2 Lack of opportunity

The WWE roster is more stacked than it ever was. While it could be great news for the WWE fans, it is not the same for the Superstars. The latest batch of Superstars released by WWE - Tye Dillinger, Hideo Itami, and TJ Perkins - did not make regular appearances in their respective brands.

Similarly, there are a number of talented Superstars in the WWE roster that does not get to showcase their ability on a regular basis, or are not allowed to perform up to their potential.

Only a few elite Superstars get featured regularly. WWE should start to give more opportunities for those who are deprived of it - else they will start asking for releases on a mass scale - which, at the moment will be something Vince McMahon does not want.

#1 Hectic Workload

Most WWE Superstars are on the road for around 300 days a year. Some Superstars may have to perform up to 170 matches per year. That is an insane amount of workload.

Even though most WWE fans worldwide do not care about the WWE Live events, the truth is that these events garner a huge chunk of income for WWE. The ticket and merchandise sales during live events are immense. Thus, WWE is not keen to stop or reduce the workload anytime soon.

Having such a heavy workload on the wrestlers harm their body. Their body may not be able to cope up with such stringent work schedule and may bulge under pressure. Most WWE Superstars suffer injury due to this hectic work schedule. Remember when Seth Rollins had to relinquish his WWE World heavyweight championship due to an injury he picked up during a Live event?

Even though the wrestlers may have to put up more work rate during an independent scene match, they are free to do whatever they want outside the ring, and they don't have this rigorous work schedule.
