Dave Batista versus Triple H at WrestleMania 35!

While this match might have seemed like filler at first to The WWE Universe, it quickly took on monumental importance after Batista announced it would be the last match of his career. Interestingly enough, Triple H has now agreed to put his career on the line during their match at The Show of Shows after Batista threatened not to show up.

With that being said and the possibility of Triple H's career being over when all is said and done at WrestleMania 35, one has to wonder why exactly WWE would take this stipulation on to an already extremely thrilling story and what they hope to achieve with it. Beyond that, you also have to wonder if Batista will actually manage to retire Triple H.

Although it's not known exactly why WWE has made this a stipulation in their match, here are five of the most likely reasons and why. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us why you think Triple H put his career on the line against Triple H.

#4 Playing off the crowd

Is the company actually listening to The WWE Universe?
Is the company actually listening to The WWE Universe?

Believe it or not, the feud between Triple H and Batista is doing a great job of playing off the WWE Universe and what it wants this storyline to be.

Not only was that evident by Triple H's comments about Batista saliva filled microphone, but also by his quirky remediation of the popular spice girls song 'If you want to be my lover.'

If nothing else, the company seems to be listening to the fans and what they want and that includes Triple H eventually stepping out of the ring for good. Of course, it's not known if WWE will go through with the decision to end Triple H's career or not, but it's going to have fans going nuts in the meantime!

#3 Make Batista look like a villain

WWE made Batista look like a total asshole on Raw this week!

Bad guy 101

That's the line Triple H uttered a couple of weeks ago when Batista refused to show up for a face to face confrontation and that also seems to be exactly what WWE was going with during this segment with Triple H.

In fact, between Triple H making Batista out to be a snobby movie star and The Animal still giving demands before agreeing to the match, it's obvious what WWE is doing here.

What is also obvious however is that WWE isn't going out of its way to make Triple H look like the good guy either. Instead, he admitted to holding people back during his promo on Raw this week, which has to make one wonder why WWE would make Triple H out to be so villainous when he should be the clear cut hero.

In the end, Batista no showing and giving a letter of demands is the perfect way to garner heel heat from fans. Its also going to make what could have been just a filler into one of the most must-watch matches on the entire card.

#2 Keep the storyline moving without Batista

Triple H was able to keep the feud going with a letter from Batista!
Triple H was able to keep the feud going with a letter from Batista!

It's no secret that movie stars are busy people and that probably at least has something to do with why Batista wasn't on Raw this week.

While it's not known exactly why Batista wasn't able to make WWE's flagship show this week, one can probably venture a guess that it had to do with his schedule.

With that being said and WWE still needing to move the storyline between Triple H and Batista forward heading into WrestleMania 35, it makes sense that WWE would introduce a new stipulation in The Animal's absence.

Not only did it move the storyline a little further down the road and cover up Batista absence, but it also allows WWE to do the final confrontation between the two next week on Raw.

In all honesty, its the perfect move by WWE and adds another interesting layer to what is already a very volatile feud between the two.

In the end, the company didn't have much of a choice if Batista legitimately wasn't able to make it this week, and doing the letter bit between Triple H was the perfect filler to keep things going.

#1 Makes things more personal

Triple H and Batista go a long way back!
Triple H and Batista go a long way back!

Things just got personal.

Not that they haven't already, especially since Batista beat up Ric Flair to even make this match happen, but things have only gotten more personal after Triple H agreed to put his career on the line.

In fact, the decision to add the stipulation to the match seems to make it WrestleMania worthy all on its own.

Beyond that, Triple H and Batista have been going into their history an awful lot during this feud, which makes a career versus career match seem like the logical conclusion to the storyline.

Who comes out the winner in all this remains to be seen and will depend on what WWE deems is best for business, but it feels like there is a chance that Triple H's career ends up being done for good.

Again though, it was all about making things personal between the two and nothing achieves that means better than having Triple H put his career on the line against his former Evolution running mate.
