A showdown between McIntyre and Lesnar is rumoured to happen at next year's WrestleMania with the Universal Championship on the line. And given the condition Strowman is suffering from, it's best that WWE to execute those plans early by putting McIntyre against Lesnar at Royal Rumble.

They could set up a qualifying match to determine the next contender who will face Lesnar at Rumble and McIntyre may end up winning the match which eventually will make him the next contender for Lesnar's title.
