4 Things WWE must do with Bayley's heel turn and 3 things they must avoid

It's about time...
It's about time...

Bayley turned heel and everything broke loose in the WWE Universe. She claimed that she is a role model to young kids and she wants to teach them the importance of friendship and loyalty. And frankly, we wouldn't have it any other way.

The SmackDown Women's Champion has often found herself on the sideline. But that never compromised with her popularity amidst the fans. That should explain how incredible she is at what she does.

But now that she has finally decided to do what she wants and gone way past seeking approval from anyone, it's high time to see this WWE Superstar explore new altars of success.

After all, she came on the main roster to distribute hugs and decimate her opponents. And it looks like she is all out of hugs.

#4 Must do -- Modifications in theme song and ring gear

Sure we love the hugs but can we please see her snap?
Sure we love the hugs but can we please see her snap?

Bayley's current in-ring character has a huge fan base, thanks to NXT. However, ever since her move to the main roster, her 'Hugger' gimmick hasn't won her the response that the likes of Sasha Banks or Becky Lynch received. Especially, when they turned heel.

Bayley is an incredible Superstar who stands for everything right -- friendship, loyalty, and kindness. But she is also one of the few WWE Superstars who have mostly been on the right side of history. No wonder she is extremely popular amidst the WWE Universe for being 'too good'.

But now that she has finally decided to take matters in her own hands, a slight change in her entrance will help build her heel persona. She doesn't need to get an entirely new theme song. Slight changes were made in Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles' entrance themes but it was extremely effective in establishing their heel turn.

WWE can do something similar with Bayley's theme. A slightly modified version of the song and replacing the props will be enough.

#3 Must avoid -- Conflicting character

More chair shots? Yes, please.
More chair shots? Yes, please.

Now that Bayley has turned heel, WWE must allow her to explore the dark side. It is obvious that she has a huge fan following as a face. And turning her into a complete heel might appear risky at the moment.

However, we know she has already gained the respect of the WWE Universe with her in-ring skills. She is extremely over with the crowd who cheers for her irrespective of her opponent. The arena's reaction when she hit Becky Lynch with the chair is the evidence of how long the fans have waited for her to pull off something like that.

At this point, she needs to embrace her newly-found side and live it to the fullest. It would be weird to see her fight as a heel one night and resume being 'too good to be true' on the next night. It will only leave her and the rest of us confused every week.

If WWE believe that they cannot have an icon like her be an unforgiving heel, maybe she can turn into someone who is an anti-hero. After all, the WWE Universe is already backing her as someone who is done staying in someone's shadow.

#3 Must do -- Have her retain SmackDown Women's Champion at Clash of Champions

It's not impossible to beat the Queen
It's not impossible to beat the Queen

Bayley may have taken the pin on RAW this week but she is determined to bring the SmackDown Women’s Championship at par with the RAW Women’s Championship. Additionally, she has heard enough about ‘struggling’ to make her mark as a champion.

If she loses her title to Charlotte Flair at Clash of Champions, all the points stated above will only appear to be true. Owing to her recent run, she deserves to retain her title at the upcoming pay-per-view.

Don’t get me wrong, Charlotte Flair is definitely a worthy champion. But if her tenth title run begins on the coming Sunday, it will do a lot of damage to Bayley’s heel turn.

And she needs to win without any assistance from Sasha Banks. If not, it will only bring more attention to the fact that she can’t stand all by herself, and defeating Charlotte in her hometown will only help her gain more momentum. Hence, it is important for Bayley to walk out of the Spectrum Centre as the champion.

#2 Must avoid -- Face Sasha Banks at Survivor Series 2019

Give it time...
Give it time...

Bayley’s feud with Sasha Banks is inevitable. The two have been brought to the brink of fallout at several instances during their time on the main roster. However, they are yet to engage in a full-fledged feud where two of the best WWE Superstars go toe-to-toe.

With the Boss’ return as a heel, WWE have another shot to reignite this much-awaited rivalry. After all, best friends turned foes is one of the most classic wrestling storylines.

WWE can eventually book these two women in an incredible feud provided they are patient with the build-up. If Bayley retains her title and Sasha Banks manages to get her hands on the RAW Women’s Championship, the two will be forced to lock horns at Survivor Series 2019. That, in my opinion, will be a little rushed and might butcher a brilliant story before it can take off.

It would indeed be better if WWE allow the good and bad aspects of their friendship live its course before forcing the story in a direction which will encounter a dead-end in less than a mile.

#2 Must do – Face Becky Lynch

Champion vs Champion
Champion vs Champion

This is an extension of my previous point. We discussed how facing Sasha Banks at Survivor Series will not be in the best interest of Bayley’s heel turn. On the other hand, if she retains her title on Sunday, she might go up against Becky Lynch at Survivor Series 2019.

With almost two months in her hand, Bayley can establish her SmackDown title as an equal to that of Becky Lynch’s RAW Women’s Championship. This will also grant her enough time to execute more of her heel-ish intentions.

Bayley’s attack on Becky will make for a perfect start to this storyline that can be built up in the weeks that follow Clash of Champions. Maybe Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch will continue to feud and Bayley can arrive on RAW to help her best friend and irk The Man.

Becky Lynch is one of the top Superstars in the entire WWE roster and a good match against her will help Bayley draw more attention to her brutal side.

#1 Must avoid – Compromise her individuality

She is no less than any Boss, any Man or any Queen
She is no less than any Boss, any Man or any Queen

With Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair in the picture, Bayley is often spotted away from the spotlight. However, watching all these four Superstar in the ring last Monday reassured the WWE Universe of the incredible matches that they can put up.

The rest of the three horsewomen have enjoyed their fair share of attention on the main roster. Now that more people are looking at Bayley, she deserves to make a statement as the fourth horsewoman.

We often hear the sentence ‘Bayley is living in Sasha Banks’ shadow’. The only reason it’s repeated time and again is that a lot of attention is deviated from her individual self and is directed towards her best friend.

Not so long ago, she did most of the job while winning the first-ever Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Sasha Banks. However, it didn’t nearly receive as much credit as it deserved.

Hence, this time Bayley should be built as an individual before she is made to share the spotlight once again.

#1 Must do -- Inevitable rivalry with Sasha Banks

Is it too selfish to hope that a pair of best friends have a fallout?
Is it too selfish to hope that a pair of best friends have a fallout?

We all know this is coming. WWE have teased a rivalry between the two best friends for a long time but they never went through with it on the main roster. Remember when they were seeing a counselor to help them work on their friendship? It may not have worked according to the plan back then but things can be different now.

We have seen the kind of magic these two can create when they share the squared circle. Look no further than NXT Takeover: Respect 2015 where Bayley and Sasha Banks locked horns in the main event. Bayley defended her title in arguably the best match of the year.

They can recreate history together if booked properly. They have a lot of history to create tension between their run as best friends.

One of the ways WWE can go about it is by having her cost Sasha Banks a win during the women's 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match. Following the match, Banks might attack Bayley which will fuel the tension between the two and mark the beginning of a historic rivalry.
