4 Things you might have missed from WWE Elimination Chamber 2019

Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston blew the roof off at Elimination Chamber - but what did you miss?

WWE's Elimination Chamber was quite an awkward pay-per-view. People didn't seem too excited in the build-up towards it, despite the introduction of the Women's Tag-Team Titles and the huge WWE Title Elimination Chamber Match.

However, when the dust has now settled on the show, it's safe to say that it exceeded expectations. The six female tag-teams absolutely nailed their opening Chamber match while the final faceoff between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan during the Men's Chamber match main event reached an emotional crescendo, the likes of which we haven't seen in quite some time!

Other things that happened included Braun Strowman getting demolished by Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor winning Intercontinental Championship gold and Becky Lynch destroying Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair with a crutch.

However, there were some fun little nods and callbacks throughout the show that you may not have picked up on. So, here are four things you might have missed from WWE's Elimination Chamber 2019.

#4 The Bayley/Sasha Elimination Chamber call-back

There was a weird spot during the latter stages of the Women's Tag-Team Title Elimination Chamber match where Mandy Rose climbed on top of one of the pods and both Bayley and Sasha Banks followed, with Sasha getting up there first and helping Bayley up.

It was weird because of the timing during the match, but when Sasha helped Bayley up and the two exchanged a knowing look it all made sense.

That's because this was a clear reference to when Alexa Bliss was on top of the pod in Elimination Chamber 2018 and Bayley and Sasha, supposed friends, were climbing up together. Only that time, Sasha Banks betrayed Bayley and sent her plummeting down to the floor, costing her the match.

This was a great way to bring the story of these two on-off friends full-circle by calling back to a moment from a year ago. Now they can move on as definitive tag-team partners and the inaugural Women's Tag-Team Champions.

#3 Kofi Kingston finally getting revenge over Randy Orton

These two men go way back and their story continued at Elimination Chamber!
These two men go way back and their story continued at Elimination Chamber!

There were some real-life backstage politics that provide important context to the fact that Kofi Kingston eliminated Randy Orton from this Elimination Chamber match.

During Kofi's rise to the main event several years ago, which saw him feud against Randy Orton's stable 'Legacy' featuring Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr, it seemed like he was set for stardom.

However, his push was halted and Kofi never became a world champion, something that has since been widely attributed to Randy Orton being upset with a mistake Kingston had made and airing that grievance with the officials backstage.

The fact that to get back into the main event picture and to have a chance of potentially becoming World Champion for the first time, Kofi Kingston had to take out Randy Orton along the way is a wonderful moment of serendipity from the WWE.

#2 WrestleMania foreshadowing

Does this final Elimination Chamber 2019 shot have more to say than meets the eye?
Does this final Elimination Chamber 2019 shot have more to say than meets the eye?

This was the final shot of Elimination Chamber 2019: the members of The New Day comforting Kofi Kingston after he fell millimetres short of winning the WWE Title from Daniel Bryan.

But, if you look carefully at the composition of the picture you see the deliberate placement of the WrestleMania sign looming over Kofi Kingston. So, whilst he may have fallen short this time, is this final shot of the Pay-Per-View trying to tell us that Kingston's time will come?

Are we being foreshadowed for a huge WrestleMania moment featuring Kingston and Daniel Bryan, with Kingston finally winning the WWE Title and becoming Grand Slam Champion? Let's hope this is deliberate placing, and let's hope this happens!

#1 Ronda Rousey was dressed as Sonya Blade and met a fatality at the hands of Becky Lynch

Okay, so Renee Young did make it clear that Ronda Rousey was dressed as Sonya Blade when she made her entrance for her, disappointingly short, match against Ruby Riott. But many of you may have missed who Sonya Blade is, and why Rousey was dressed as her.

Sonya Blade is a character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 video game and she was actually voiced by Ronda Rousey herself, hence the special ring-gear.

Unfortunately for Ronda Rousey, Mortal Kombat is known for its brutal, gory and gruesome fight finishes known as 'fatalities' and a Sonya Blade cosplaying Rousey would go on to suffer her own fatality at the hands of Becky Lynch and a crutch, getting busted open in the process.
