4 ways WWE can proceed with Brock Lesnar as the Universal Champion

Could this happen again?
Could this happen again?

This was bound to happen one way or the other. The moment Brock Lesnar won the Money in the Bank contract in the Ladder Match, it became apparent that a major title was going to be on his shoulders soon.

In the beginning, the decision was about which championship: was it going to be Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship or Seth Rollins’ Universal Title? Ultimately, it became clear that the Beast was eying the title that he had lost to his slayer at WrestleMania.

With two failed cash-ins in a row in the last two years, it was impossible that WWE would make a hat trick of it, especially with Brock Lesnar holding it – there was no way they would make a mockery out of the Beast by letting him fail with the briefcase.

So, considering all of this, Lesnar was bound to have the title sooner rather than later. At Extreme Rules, he cashed in his contract against Seth Rollins to regain the WWE Universal Title.

And now, here are four ways WWE can go on about it…

#4 Re-feud with Rollins

Should this feud continue?
Should this feud continue?

This is a very common way to go on about this now. Seth Rollins has been feuding with Lesnar for a better part of the year now and it could continue at least until SummerSlam next month.

Since the Beast grabbed the title off him in a sudden manner, Rollins has a case for a rematch against Lesnar. WWE might have done away with rematches but recent history suggests the contrary.

Daniel Bryan, for example, got a rematch for the WWE Championship on RAW. And while Lesnar never really got one after losing the title to Rollins, the Beast Slayer could be given a shot at SummerSlam against the Beast Incarnate.

#3 Shot for McIntyre

Drew McIntyre has the quality to be a star
Drew McIntyre has the quality to be a star

This is perhaps the unlikeliest of scenarios for a multiple number of reasons. For starters, McIntyre is a heel and pitting him up against another heel like Lesnar may not be something WWE has in mind.

Secondly, his association with Shane McMahon has really tarnished the character that was so brutally built last year building up to WrestleMania. One can never really know as to what benefit the company saw in McIntyre becoming McMahon’s personal bodyguard.

However, the fan in me hopes and prays that we see a McIntyre vs Lesnar feud somewhere down the line – maybe even with a third wheel like Strowman (with whom McIntyre has a history).

The Scottish Psychopath has all the attributes to be a main event star and with the right approach, he could benefit a lot with a program alongside the Beast.

#2 Roman Reigns enters the picture

Roman Reigns never lost the Universal Title
Roman Reigns never lost the Universal Title

This might be an unpopular choice given that the duo have feuded many times in the past, but there could be a chance for Reigns to once again be in a program with the Beast.

Remember, Roman Reigns never really lost the Universal Title and had to instead give it away in order to recuperate from his illness. As a result, Reigns has a legitimate claim to the title he won from – wait for it – Lesnar.

The Big Dog hasn’t been pushed to the main event scene yet but it is only a matter of time before that happens. He returned in February, which is around 5 months from now – so we might just be getting into the zone of Reigns getting a title shot.

He can’t be pitched against Kingston, as the latter is a babyface, but with Lesnar, WWE won’t actually risk Reigns getting booed since not many want to have the Beast as the champion.

#1 Add the Monster

The Monster Among Men could be in for a push
The Monster Among Men could be in for a push

Things are looking bright for the Monster Among Men Braun Strowman. After a rather poor start to the year, Strowman is getting back in the mix in the strongest possible way.

His feud against Bobby Lashley may have had doubters in the beginning but the way it panned out surely leaves Strowman in a good place. He is back to being the monster that tormented the entire production not so long ago.

On top of that, he has also had some good bouts against Lesnar and in an ideal world, would have already won the Universal Title last year. However, what is gone is gone and WWE now have the perfect chance to put the Monster at the pinnacle of his career.

According to rumors, Strowman is in line for a major push, so could his next big feud be against another physical Beast where, this time, he prevails?
