The WrestleMania weekend is just around the corner. This year will be the thirty-fourth annual WrestleMania pay-per-view and will take place on April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Each year fans get to see at least one match at WrestleMania that stands alone as the pinnacle of sports-entertainment. Whether it's The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXV or “Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat at WrestleMania III, one is sure to expect some controversial, explosive, and flat-out great matches

Thirteen matches have been confirmed for this year, and another one or two may be in works.

Here are four matches of the night that can be sure candidates for the Match of the Year.


#4 Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali (WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Finals)

After two months of single elimination tournament to crown the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion, the finale has been set for the grandest stage of them all with Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali battling it out at WrestleMania.

Alexander and Ali are two of the most exciting performers on the 205 Live roster and are sure to amuse the WWE Universe with their wrestling skills. The two are highly skilled in-ring workers and will put on an exceptional performance provided proper time is allotted.

Regardless of who wins the title, the match is sure to be special with some breathtaking spots. Considering the stacked match card, the tournament final might be happening on the pre-show, but with wrestlers like Alexander and Ali, the fans are in for a potential candidate for match of the year.

#3 SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers (Triple Threat Match)

The Usos will be looking to defend their Tag-Team Championship when they face The New Day and The Bludgeon Brothers in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 34.

With all the performers bringing their different set of skills to the table, this match will be chaotic. The New Day and Usos have a history of putting up great matches and with the addition of the ever so dangerous Bludgeon Brothers, the match has become a lot more noteworthy. A prospect for match of the year, one is sure to expect some memorable moments and bumps.

Good tag team matches usually steal the show. Provided WWE allots at least 15-20 minutes for six (or seven) talented individuals, one may get to witness one of the best tag team matches in WWE history.

#2 SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte vs Asuka

Asuka won the Royal Rumble in January and challenged Charlotte for her SmackDown Women's Championship. The match between the two best female wrestlers on the planet has been set for The Show of Immortals.

Charlotte has been a dominant performer as the Women's Champion. She has brushed away all her competition and the only woman standing in front of her is Asuka. The Empress of Tomorrow has been undefeated since her debut in WWE.

It's going to be a battle filled with ups and downs with both women trying to gain an advantage over the other. Expect this match to be clean and straightforward with an equal offence from each side. Another potential match of the year candidate, two different styles of wrestling colliding against each other will surely wow the audience.

Given how technically gifted the two performers are, the match can possibly go down as best women's match in pro-wrestling history, let alone WWE. The fans have been waiting for a match of this calibre for the longest time now, and WWE has not disappointed them.

Shinsuke Nakamura challenged the WWE Champion AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34 after winning the Men's Royal Rumble Match in January this year. The dream match has been set for the show of shows and could well be the best 'face vs face' match in WrestleMania history.

Out of every possible dream match the WWE universe could imagine, AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura would definitely top the list. No doubt the pressure will be high on these two Superstars to have an astounding match, but if anyone is capable of handling such pressure, it’s them.

The Phenomenal One going against The Rockstar of WWE will be a treat for the audience. The match will be a technical masterpiece with both trying to one-up the other to fight for the most prestigious title of the company. Styles-Nakamura should close WrestleMania 34 sending the crowd happy.

Forget match of the year. With two world-class wrestlers competing in a historic battle, the potential is sky-high and could lead to an all-time great WrestleMania match.
