The 22nd October 2018 edition of the Red brand started in a way no one could have ever expected. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns kicked off the show and disclosed his real-life battle with leukemia and that he needed to take some time off to once again beat the disease. On his way back, he was greeted by his Shield brothers Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and the trio would perform their signature fist bump.

It was an emotional moment for the WWE Superstars and fans alike, except for Dean Ambrose. After winning the RAW Tag Team Championship from Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, Ambrose attacked his partner Seth Rollins and aimed at putting an end to The Shield for good.

The sudden change in the attitude of The Lunatic Fringe was unprecedented and WWE commentator Michael Cole resonated the feelings of the entire fanbase when he exclaimed "Not tonight! Not on this night."

Ambrose and Rollins would face each other for the WWE Intercontinental Championship throughout the fall of 2018. His feud with The Architect marked his final significant storyline before parting ways with WWE, following which he embraced the persona of Jon Moxley.
