5 Better Finishing Moves For Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose has had quite a journey in the WWE. From his days of dominance with The Shield to his singles run and epic feud with Seth Rollins to being the face of SmackDown Live and subsequently reuniting with Rollins and The Shield and finally his return and heel turn, Ambrose has had a storied career in just over six years with the WWE.

He's become a bonafide main eventer in that time and his heel turn in 2018 saw shockwaves around the WWE Universe. However, it was a heel turn that was inevitable and one that bought quite a shake-up to the RAW landscape. It was also one that let him hit the refresh button on his character.

Add to the fact that his heel turn happened on the night of Roman Reigns' tragic announcement - Ambrose could not have been more hated. It definitely helped him hit the refresh button on his character, and if there's anything more that could make it even better, it's two things - a darker character and a new finisher.

A new finisher is something that's been long overdue for Ambrose. Long gone are the days where DDTs were deadly and effective finishers. We take a look at the best finishers that The Lunatic Fringe can adopt.

#5 The Pedigree

You're probably wondering why the pedigree, especially given that Seth Rollins had used it until he beat Triple H. However, if you remember, in early 2016, Ambrose had an extremely entertaining mini-feud with Triple H.

He ended up giving Triple H his best match in years and that storyline could be revisited, this time with the roles reversed. Instead of beating Triple H and stopping the use of the pedigree, Ambrose could beat Triple H with his own move and use it going forward, just to put a stamp on things.

#4 Stunner

Remember the time when Dean Ambrose was compared to Stone Cold Steve Austin? Many may not view it that way now, but it would be a great way to pay tribute to the legend if Ambrose were to implement the stunner as his new finisher.

The Stunner was one of the most electric moves in all of wrestling and if Ambrose were to start using it, it would most definitely be a huge upgrade to his arsenal.

#3 Jackknife Powerbomb

Kevin Nash's ruthless finisher the Jackknife Powerbomb is one of the most legitimate finishers in pro wrestling. Nash may not have been the greatest in-ring worker but his height and build allowed him to execute the Jackknife Powerbomb beautifully.

Ambrose may not have the same height that Nash has, but post-return in 2018, he's shown a clear difference in his physique, bulking up more than usual. The Jackknife Powerbomb would be a great finisher for him.

#2 Curb Stomp

What better way to become the biggest heel in the company than by stealing Seth Rollins' finisher? Ambrose may be hated now but his hatred and vengeance towards Rollins is not completely unjustified in the storyline.

Not only would taking his title away be great but if he beat him with his own move and started using it (until they feud again and have a subsequent payoff), it would mean a lot of heat for The Lunatic Fringe. And that's not a bad thing.

#1 Draping turnbuckle DDT

If Ambrose isn't to change his finisher, why not simply modify it to make it look more devastating? SmackDown Live's Andrade 'Cien' Almas uses the hammerlock DDT but his execution makes it look absolutely devastating.

He won the NXT Championship with a draping top-turnbuckle DDT and the more the height, the more the impact. It could simply be a modification to the Dirty Deeds with a far more effective look.
