As there have been so many times when WWE had Samoa Joe in the perfect position be the next top guy on Raw or Smackdown Live, but they did not pull the trigger, as they always backed out at the very last second. Joe is a veteran of the business who can work any narrative and deliver any promo, but he needs that moment which will push him to the next level.

And while some may feel that Joe is reaching the end of his prime, it doesn't feel like the man is slowing down, and maybe WWE can still get the best of him. One the ways WWE could have done that was to pit the US Champion against the man he is so familiar with, and that man is Kurt Angle. Angle vs Joe is a dream match, as these two men have a storied history during their time in TNA.

And bringing that over to the WWE would have been the perfect way for WWE to use Angle's credibility to establish Joe.
