5 big matches WWE could be planning for Aleister Black at SummerSlam

After laying waste to the likes of Cesaro and Sami Zayn, Aleister Black looks destined for a sensational push on the main roster.

Even though his presence on weekly television should increase, one can't deny that the creative team has been very sound in presenting Black as a legitimate threat. Be it his offensive style of wrestling or his dark, broody, demeanor, the former NXT Champion is hitting all the right notes between the ropes and could be a major player for SmackDown Live heading into October under FOX.

However, the Dutch Destroyer's scheduled encounter with Sami Zayn is now off the biggest party of the summer.

With rumors of Vince McMahon rewriting the entire SmackDown script at the eleventh hour and adding Black's collision with Zayn on the blue brand for the same night, the Chairman of the Board could come up with a different plan for this Sunday's SummerSlam. If WWE have to maintain Black's credibility as a top-tier superstar, they certainly have to come up with something spectacular for him in Toronto.

But, what could it be? Let's find out. Here are the 5 big matches WWE could be planning for Aleister Black at SummerSlam.

#5 Aleister Black vs. Baron Corbin

I can get behind this
I can get behind this

Now before you start despising me for even hypothetically putting Baron Corbin back on a WWE pay-per-view, just hear me out.

Even though Corbin has been provided with multiple opportunities on the red brand, his old-school heel persona could prove beneficial for someone who is trying to rise through the ranks, in Aleister Black. He certainly earns nuclear heat, and with the fans wanting someone to shut him up, Black's intervention to the scene could be delightful.

Provided that WWE presents Black as an unstoppable force, this could end very quick for Corbin. It's a win-win situation for everyone. Giving us a squash match, with Black ultimately knocking Corbin out in the Scotiabank Arena, could be a great way to keep him in the spotlight.

#4 Aleister Black vs. Andrade

This could be a masterpiece
This could be a masterpiece

Even though I would be the last person on the planet to endorse a match where Andrade 'Cien' Almas is taking the pin, this match could happen at SummerSlam.

We all know that the creative has not presented Andrade to his full potential, but providing these two with some quality time on the card could pay serious dividends. The two have already clashed before, and their consistency between the ropes is a testament to their credibility as modern day professional wrestlers.

While I would not want this to end as a squash match, the Mexican Sensation taking Aleister Black to his limits could prove to be decisive in building the two performers ahead.

As much as I want to see Black continue his winning streak on the main roster, I would like these two to push each other to the limits and give us a masterpiece on Sunday. Let's admit this - Andrade needs this more than Aleister Black.

#3 Aleister Black vs. Rey Mysterio

Pave the way for him, Rey
Pave the way for him, Rey

After achieving so much in the world of professional wrestling, it would be fitting if Rey Mysterio starts paving the way for other upcoming talents on the main roster.

Though his in-ring chemistry with Andrade only proves that he can still hang with the best in the business, a blockbuster clash with Aleister Black must happen as soon as possible. Both the performers, if put together, could deliver a spectacle inside the squared circle. Moreover, a loved babyface like Mysterio knocking on Black's door could prove the former World Champion's hunger for competition.

Be it Mysterio's undeniable athleticism, or Black's unforgiving offensiveness between the ropes, the two can bring the house down, if provided with some quality time. Whilst this may not be a 'passing-of-the-torch' moment, the two performers showing respect for each other after a brutal clash could be enough to seal the deal.

#2 Aleister Black vs. Sami Zayn - Rematch

This could still happen
This could still happen

Even though WWE has pulled this match off the card, I still believe that we would see Aleister Black clash again with Sami Zayn at SummerSlam.

The interesting part here is that Vince McMahon could take advantage of Zayn's Canadian connection and let him convince Black for a rematch at the pay-per-view. One might argue that Zayn does not look like a believable contender after fading to Black this week, but this could still be a fun way to keep the Dutch Destroyer on the show.

Zayn definitely works well on his promos and could give us a reason to invest in this match again, especially within familiar territory like Toronto. Creative could use Zayn's heel work to shower some significant momentum on Aleister Black, as he continues to prove his worth to the WWE Universe.

Despite the match that we have already seen this match go down before, these two deserve some quality time to prove why they are two of the best to ever grace the squared circle.

#1 Aleister Black vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali

Giving the Intercontinental Championship the respect it deserves
Giving the Intercontinental Championship the respect it deserves

With almost all individual Championships booked to be defended at SummerSlam, the exclusion of the Intercontinental Championship seems a bit absurd.

While the current feud between Shinsuke Nakamura and Ali seems promising, it would be very early to push the former 205 Live Superstar to the top of the mountain. Presenting him as an underdog would be the right thing to do, and in this case, adding Aleister Black at the very last-minute could prove to be decisive in further developing these three characters, especially Ali.

After his impressive performances ever since he made his transition to the main roster, Black certainly deserves the opportunity to fight for the Intercontinental Championship.

Since Nakamura is the heel in this feud, the company could protect him from taking the pin, with Black eventually knocking Ali after an outstanding performance. Nakamura deserves to be protected, Black deserves to win, and Ali deserves to be respected. If presented correctly, this could be the match that brings the Intercontinental Championship back to the top.
