5 Biggest botches in the wrestling world this week (July 6th, 2019)

The wrestling world was riddled with botches this week!
The wrestling world was riddled with botches this week!

It's been quite a stacked week this week throughout the wrestling world since AEW presented their second live pay-per-view, this time from Florida entitled Fyter Fest, whilst WWE continued their build towards next weekend's Extreme Rules event.

Paul Heyman took charge of his first Monday Night Raw episode and the changes that he made were obvious from the start, whilst Eric Bischoff is yet to take the reins on SmackDown Live, but this episode was still considered to be one of the better ones this year.

AEW will now push towards Fight for the Fallen which takes place this weekend and WWE are set to stream Evolve's 10th-anniversary show on the WWE Network at the same time, whilst the company itself gears itself towards their final stop on the road to SummerSlam next month.

It's a stressful time to be a wrestler and the stress is definitely getting to a number of the stars and even the backstage crew as this week's botches will prove.

#5 AEW don't know their own rules

The rules in a wrestling ring are quite simple, until it comes to multi-man matches or even stipulated matches and then companies usually add their own rules to fit the storyline that they are trying to push forward.

AEW's main change of rule is the fact that there is a 10-count in tag matches so that the superstars have time to perform interesting moves before they have to get back to the outside, but they aren't too sure when it comes to multi-person matches.

As part of Fyter Fest, there was a triple threat match and a fatal four-way match that included rope breaks even though there's no disqualification in either match. Maybe this is something that fans can keep their eye out for next weekend at Fight for the Fallen.

#4 Heavy Machinery forget how to do a hot tag

The hot tag is something that is used in every tag team match following the double down. Basically, the heel will crawl to the corner first and tag in so that the face then gets a much bigger cheer when they finally make it to their corner because it's drawn out longer.

This week on SmackDown Live, Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler took on Heavy Machinery in the main event and following the double down, Tucker ignored his partner and tagged in before Dolph Ziggler. This means that the crowd was cheering when Ziggler came into the match, giving off a different story arch than the company would have wanted.

Tucker has been wrestling long enough to know how the hot tag works, but officials will have pointed this out to him after the match.

#3 Does WWE know the rules of a Mixed Tag Team match?

Becky Lynch shouldn't have picked up the win on Raw

Well, AEW proved that they didn't know their own rules on Saturday night, so it appears that WWE could have been sending them a shot back on Monday Night when they allowed Becky Lynch to force Mike Kanellis to tap out in a Mixed Tag Team match.

A mixed tag team match is where the women are only allowed to wrestle the women and the same rules apply to the men. If Lynch was going to win the match then it should have been billed as an intergender match, which it wasn't. Lynch should never have been able to tap Mike out, the referee should have asked for her to tag out of the match the minute Maria announced that she could no longer be part of it.

#2 The Street Profits have arrived, accidentally

The Street Profits made their debut on Monday Night Raw this week, but whilst the duo showed up backstage mid-way through the show as part of an interview with Charlie Caruso, the WWE Universe already knew that they were on Raw because a member of the production staff accidentally gave it away.

Just as Raw came onto the air, before Braun Strowman made his way to the ring, WWE's live camera's headed backstage where they showed The Street Profits waiting for their cue before quickly coming back out into the arena for the match between Strowman and Bobby Lashley. The way the camera flashed back to the ring made it clear that this camera cut was a botch and wasn't supposed to be part of the live episode.

#1 WWE's Instagram decides to promote their competition

Why did WWE decide to include their competition's name in an Instagram update?
Why did WWE decide to include their competition's name in an Instagram update?

Last week WWE decided to inform the WWE Universe that Stomping Grounds was live a few days before it actually was and this week they have promoted AEW on their own Instagram page. WWE is definitely having an issue with Social Media and their production staff, so it's no wonder Vince McMahon is losing his hair when it comes to the way his superstars have been using Twitter and Instagram recently.

Monday Night as part of Raw, the company's Instagram posted an update about The Street Profits making their way up to the main roster and accidentally added AEW to the post. The update was quickly removed and all links to AEW deleted, but it was too late since many of the WWE Universe had already spotted the error and screenshotted it for future use.
