#1: Jake Hager was confirmed to be Cody's opponent at Fyter Fest after an impressive main event
If last week's main event was an entertaining match between Jungle Boy and Cody, then the latter's TNT title defense on this week's AEW Dynamite featured great storytelling.
Cody faced Marq Quen in last night's main event, and it proved to be a great showcase for the up-and-coming star from Private Party. Usually, false finishes can be a key to a great match, but Cody and Marq Quen displayed that selling a leg injury, if done properly, can make any match on AEW Dynamite more compelling than it ever could be.
One wrong move ruined his entire WWE career - Watch Now!
After the bout, Jake Hager kickstarted a small scuffle against Cody, which also brought out some members of The Inner Circle, while Private Party and Matt Hardy backed up the AEW TNT Champion.
To close out the show, Cody knew exactly what Hager wanted here, and as a result, the Champion gave Hager a title shot at AEW Fyter Fest.
Surely, Cody will get to face more exciting opponents after Fyter Fest, because we all know that Jake Hager can't dethrone the TNT Champion so early into Cody's title reign.
In the meantime, fans can expect a slugfest between Hager and Cody at AEW's upcoming Pay-Per-View.
