Becky Lynch's attack on Stephanie McMahon surprised us all!

With every passing week, WWE makes an extra effort in surprising its fans, as they try to keep things unpredictable. This requires a lot of effort, and many times things do not go as planned.

Other times, we have seen some things work out extremely well and please the WWE Universe to a great extent.

Just like every other week, this week was full of surprises.

Whether you like it or not, many of these actions will have a permanent impact on the future outcomes of the storylines on both brands.

Let's take a look at the 5 biggest surprises from WWE this week. Please share your favorite moment from WWE this week in the comments below!

#5 Io Shirai’s pin over Shayna Baszler

This week’s NXT opened up with a segment between Johnny Gargano, Velveteen Dream, and Tommaso Ciampa, and ended with a six-woman tag team main event involving Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, and Bianca Belair on one team, while Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir battled on the other side.

The action-packed match saw the control shift from one team to another, with Bianca Belair trying to hoard most of the action.

The surprise came at the very end as Io Shirai took the final tag and delivered a moonsault to score the pinfall victory over the Queen of Spades. As Shirai is the newest member from the face side, it was surprising to see her take the pin victory over the current NXT Women’s Champion.

Belair and Kairi Sane have already tried their hands at beating Baszler for the championship recently, and this could be an indication that Shirai will be next in line very soon.

#4 Rusev and Nakamura’s tag team

Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura were challenged to a tag team match by the Good Brothers last week after the two handed out a beating to the current United States Champion R-Truth. This was the result of Truth beating Nakamura for the US Championship, and then successfully defending it on the same night against Rusev.

As Rusev and Nakamura accepted the challenge, Rusev made it clear that he was teaming up with the King of Strongstyle for one time only.

However, both men worked well during the match this week and saved each other on a few occasions, which resulted in them picking up the victory over the team of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

The surprising thing was that Rusev lifted the heel Nakamura’s hand after the victory, confirming that he too had turned heel and the tag team has come to stay.

#3 EC3’s win over Dean Ambrose

EC3’s inclusion in the list of six NXT call-ups was confirmed weeks back, but EC3 and Lars Sullivan remained the only superstars who had not gotten any in-ring action on Raw or SmackDown.

This week, however, WWE shifted their focus to EC3 who first got a chance to talk on Alexa Bliss’ segment, and then got into an altercation with Dean Ambrose which resulted in a match between the two men.

While we aren’t really sure whether EC3 is a heel or a face on the main roster, however, we are sure that Ambrose entered the match as a heel. He was a great pick as EC3’s first opponent, as he is one of the top guys in the company, but is scheduled to leave soon.

In a surprising turn of events, EC3 picked up his first victory on the main roster against Ambrose, which shocked almost everyone.

Since losing the Intercontinental Championship to Bobby Lashley, Ambrose has seen a downward turn in his bookings, and this week was another proof of the same.

EC3’s clean victory over one of WWE’s top superstars in only his first match could signal a push for the newcomer, while further confirming that WWE is bidding farewell to Dean Ambrose.

#2 Triple H’s heel turn

In the past few months, Triple H has been playing the good guy in WWE. He has returned on-screen in an authoritative position and is seen regularly talking to the main guys or coming out to push men like Seth Rollins.

In the opening segment of SmackDown Live this week, Charlotte made her way to the ring, mocking Becky Lynch, who soon came out to confront The Queen.

Out came the King of Kings who ordered Charlotte to step back, and spoke to Becky Lynch face to face. In the entire segment, Triple H slowly turned from a face to a heel in a surprising turn of events.

As The Authority seems to be coming back into power, WWE is probably trying to make a distinction between the heels and the faces in the governing figures.

As Shane McMahon, and even Vince, are playing faces in the managerial positions, it makes sense that both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon step into heel roles.

#1 Becky Lynch’s suspension

The biggest surprise to come out of this week happened during a preannounced segment on Raw between Stephanie McMahon and 'The Man' Becky Lynch.

Stephanie officially invited Becky to Raw this week, most likely to increase the show’s ratings, as Becky has only made uninvited visits to the brand in the past six months.

During the segment, Stephanie made it clear that she was worried about Becky’s knee injury, and she refused to let the Royal Rumble winner fight without getting checked out by WWE officials.

Becky refused, which resulted in Stephanie suspending The Man to the shock of the WWE Universe. The limping Lynch lost her cool on this and assaulted the Raw commissioner until she was forced off by officials. Becky then assaulted a few of the officials as well.
