5 booking options for Roman Reigns after WWE No Mercy 2017

What will be the Big Dog's next conquest?
What will be the Big Dog's next conquest?

Coming off a seminal moment in his career with the victory over John Cena at No Mercy, how the WWE decides to advance Roman Reigns next is of paramount importance.

Will he take the route many are resigned to think he might, being portrayed in an invincible light and going over all the talent like John Cena v 2.0?

Or will we see closely contested, hard-hitting, edgy programming the likes of which made his feud against Braun Strowman such a success?

Considering that it's a virtual certainty his coronation awaits at WrestleMania 34, it would be prudent for the WWE to play their cards right in the hope that he gets over as much as possible with the fans in the remaining months.

So what lies next for the Big Dog after No Mercy?

Join us, as we run through 5 possible booking options for him.

#1 Braun Strowman

The WWE Universe will never get sick of this rivalry
The WWE Universe will never get sick of this rivalry

As a fan, personally, I'd pay to watch Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman go at it once again.

I understand why the WWE may resist pulling the trigger on this feud so soon after it appeared to reach a conclusion but the truth is that the hard-hitting duo is probably the closest we're going to get to a Stone Cold vs the Rock-esque rivalry in today's climate.

Of course, lacklustre losses like the one he suffered against Brock Lesnar at No Mercy certainly doesn't help Strowman's cause but a couple of victories against Roman Reigns should be able to help him recapture some the sheen he lost.

Also, he managed to do something that many established Superstars failed to do. He got Roman Reigns over.

#2 Intercontinental Title

Will Roman make a tilt at the Miz's IC Title?
Will Roman make a tilt at the Miz's IC Title?

Given how Roman Reigns and the Miz got off on the wrong foot almost immediately on the episode of Raw following No Mercy, it isn't far-fetched to think that the WWE has plans to pair both of them up in the immediate future.

Miz has a way of getting the best out of the people he works with, as evinced by his highly entertaining feud with John Cena, and Roman Reigns will only benefit from having him stand opposite him in the ring.

Between Reigns' propensity to put on highly entertaining matches and the Miz's golden promo work, this feud has pretty much all the bases covered.

Throw in the IC Title into the mix, and you have yet another reason for the WWE to book it right away.

#3 Heel Turn

It could be the most natural way to go...

Unlikely though it may be, it could be a stroke of genius on the part of the WWE if they actually decide to turn Roman Reigns heel now.

For the longest time, the audience has been baying for a full-blown heel turn given that he just doesn't come across as a white meat babyface like John Cena, despite the WWE best efforts to project him that way.

And that was never more apparent than in their recently culminated feud.

The audience was largely pro-Cena and anti-Reigns, and given how well the Big Dog acquitted himself in that climate, it may be something that the WWE would be wise to take on board.

At the end of the day, Vince McMahon just wants Roman Reigns to get over with the WWE Universe.

And maybe the best way to ensure that is by having him turn heel after all.

#4 Finn Balor

Will the Demon King meet his match at the hands of the Big Dog?
Will the Demon King meet his match at the hands of the Big Dog?

With both Roman Reigns and Finn Balor publicly expressing their designs on Brock Lesnar's Universal Title on the fallout episode of Raw after No Mercy, it looks like the WWE are indeed angling for a program involving the duo.

Balor has been put over pretty decently by Bray Wyatt and it's particularly noteworthy that the Demon King is yet to lose in the main roster so far.

Couple that with how strong Roman Reigns looked going over John Cena at No Mercy and you have quite a rich narrative to build a storyline around.

Also, the fact that these two haven't truly crossed paths yet only adds to the novelty of it all.

#5 Shield Reunion

If this isn't a sign of things to come, I don't know what is
If this isn't a sign of things to come, I don't know what is

They say a picture speaks a thousand words.

This one couldn't have been any clearer.

If Miz's line of questioning to Roman earlier in the day, about a potential clash between the Miztourage and the Shield wasn't indication enough, then the way he mocked the Hounds of Justice by recreating their trademark fist bump with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas as they stood over the Big Dog's motionless body was all the confirmation we needed.

The WWE could be reuniting the Shield very soon and given how popular a decision that is likely to be, Roman Reigns' stock will only stand to benefit from it.

It could also be the perfect feel-good moment to sweeten the eventuality that the Roman empire will reign over the WWE Universe, come what may, at WrestleMania 34.
