Now that the dust has settled after WWE Hell in a Cell 2017, the burning question on the minds of WWE fans all around the world is what happens next with Sami Zayn? After his shocking heel turn at the end of the show, what comes next for the man who was formerly the ultimate babyface?
Having stagnated over the course of the last year or so, there is no doubt that the heel turn is going to be a welcome change to Zayn's career but the WWE's creative team will need to book him right in order to get the most out of it. As we prepare for the post Hell in a Cell episode of Smackdown Live, we speculate on what is the best direction for Kevin Owens' best friend.
So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 booking options for Sami Zayn after his heel turn:
#5) One on one feud with Shane McMahon
Without a shadow of a doubt, the person most affected by Sami Zayn's heel turn is Shane McMahon. So, why not set him up in a program against the Canadian as the first step on the road down evil?
Shane has already proven that he can hang with the best with his superb matches against AJ Styles and Kevin Owens, so don't rule out a straight one vs one angle between the commissioner of Smackdown Live's newest heel.
#4) The reluctant heel
Another possible angle might see us presented with a Sami Zayn who is conflicted. Still a good guy but one who is willing to do the wrong things in order to help his best friend, Kevin Owens.
This angle might not be the full-blown heel Sami that WWE fans want to see but it adds a sense of realism to the storyline as it gives his character some much-needed depth. This decision could be a hit or a miss depending on how well it is executed.
#3) Tag team dominance
Now that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are seemingly aligned, why not do on Smackdown Live exactly as has been done on Monday Night Raw. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose's reunion saw them dominate the tag team division on the red brand and the same can be done on Tuesday nights with the newly reunited best friends.
This would add some great depth to the tag team division on the blue brand and the prospect of KO and SZ vs a team like The New Day has some intriguing possibilities to it.
#2) Sami Zayn vs AJ Styles
During the episode of Talking Smack immediately following WWE Hell in a Cell 2017, AJ Styles was quick to point out that he's willing to help Shane McMahon against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
If Shane is to be kept off Television in order to heal from the injuries sustained against KO, then we could very well see AJ step up to the plate as a replacement opponent and go after Zayn himself.
#1) Team Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Team Shane McMahon
The most obvious angle that can be set up on Smackdown Live tomorrow is for WWE Survivor Series 2017. We could very well see the foundations for a traditional 5 vs 5 Survivor Series match between Team Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Team Shane McMahon.
AJ Styles has already pledged his allegiance to the side of Shane, so it would be interesting to see which other WWE Superstars would get involved in this heated program on one of the Big Four WWE pay per views.
