Dakota Kai’s heel turn at NXT WarGames 2019 saw her turn into such a different and interesting character that it’s impossible to look back at her work from before her turn and believe that it’s the same person.

Kai’s in-ring skills have also gotten more refined as she’s managed to win more matches and comes across as a more lethal force ever since her turn and partnership with Raquel Gonzalez.

Kai has attempted to win the coveted NXT Women’s Championship a couple of times before but fell prey to then-NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. Kai was playing a pure babyface character at the time and her new character could give her a better chance of winning the title.

With that in mind, NXT could get Kai into the NXT Women’s Championship scene once again as Shirai’s first opponent. With Raquel by her side, we could watch Kai pile on the odds against The Genius of the Sky and see whether the new Champion can take it or crack under pressure.

This feud could help build Shirai as a dominant Champion and pave the way for a lengthy NXT Women’s Championship reign for her.
