Edge won the first ever Money in the Bank Ladder match in WWE

Even though WWE has witnessed a lot of ladder matches previously, it created history in Los Angeles, California when it hosted the Money in the Bank match for the first time at WrestleMania 21. The idea of this matched sparked in Chris Jericho's head and he soon pitched it to the then general manager of RAW Eric Bischoff. Eric took his idea and soon made the match at WrestleMania.

In Los Angeles, California the WWE Universe was gifted a special match by the WWE where six men competed to grab the fortune at stake. The reward for the winner was a World Championship contract which the winner can utilize on any champion at any time when he desires to cash it. The participants in the match where Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, Kane, Christian, Chris Benoit and Edge.

The match was brutal and violent as the wrestlers used the ladders to annihilate one another. In the end, Edge won the contract and later cashed it upon John Cena and won the WWE Champion. Thus Los Angeles witnessed a match for the first time, which became a legacy and now a separate PPV is held by WWE with the same name featuring Money in the Bank matches apart from other matches.
