2018 has been a fantastic year for both WWE as well as for its fans across the globe. We have witnessed some of the best matches ever in WWE history, and also got to witness several outstanding rivalries and feuds.

The championship belts have changed hands several times, and many wrestlers have accomplished several unbelievable feats.

However, the WWE creative team and the management have made some major mistakes as well. These mistakes have put the team in a bad light, and the WWE could have avoided these mistakes, had they considered long term losses and not short term profits.

Here are some of the mistakes WWE have made in 2018.

#5 Shane McMahon winning the World Cup

McMahon should not have competed in the World Cup tournament

The World Cup was an exciting tournament the WWE Universe looked forward to. They supported their individual favourites from both the RAW and SmackDown brands, and the finalists were supposed to be Dolph Ziggler and The Miz.

However, owing to The Miz's injury, Shane McMahon took his place. This was an improper booking in the first place. It would have made more meaning if an injured Miz competed or even forfeited. To everyone's surprise, Shane McMahon replaced Miz and went on to win the match, tagging himself the 'best in the world'.

Had Dolph Ziggler won the match, it would have made much more sense. McMahon is a part timer, and him winning the World Cup was a slap on the face of the entire WWE roster. The fans did not appreciate this, and it was a huge mistake.

#4 Breaking The Shield

The Shield should have stayed together
The Shield should have stayed together

The Shield is one of the most dominant forces in the history of WWE. Their teamwork was always appreciated by the fans. However, WWE decided to split The Shield by starting a rivalry between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

This was not a good move on the part of WWE. Breaking The Shield was an unnecessary experiment. They could have had each other's back, but instead they are breaking each other's back. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins could have achieved way more together, instead of being against one another.

Plenty in the WWE Universe didn't want Ambrose to turn heel. He was better off as a face. Fans loved the old 'Lunatic Fringe' who was way more entertaining than his present on-screen persona.

#3 Allowing the Crown Jewel event to occur

The event should have been scrapped
The event should have been scrapped

The Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia was a major mistake. WWE received widespread criticism. Female wrestlers were not allowed to compete, and this caused a huge backlash, as a couple of days prior to the event, WWE had an all women PPV - Evolution.

WWE should have scrapped this PPV, but the WWE management were seemingly considering the financial losses. The PPV has tarnished the reputation of the company, and marred its image.

To make matters worse, they brought back the teams of Undertaker and Kane, as well as Triple H and Shawn Michaels. This match was unnecessary and was just made to attract the crowd.

The entire PPV was horribly booked, including Shane McMahon winning the World Cup. It was one of the worst decisions WWE has taken in recent times.

#2 Brock Lesnar winning the Universal Championship

Brock Lesnar winning the WWE Universal Championship for the second time at Crown Jewel was another horrible decision the WWE has made. Brock is a part timer, who hardly shows up on RAW, rarely defends his title, and has demeaned the value of the championship.

Had Braun Strowman won the title, it would have been a good decision. The WWE Universe is fed-up of seeing a part time champion. Lesnar's previous reign as the Universal Champion was one of the worst reigns ever in the WWE. He never showed up.

The WWE Universe has criticised this decision. There is widespread wrath among the fans on social media. Lesnar becoming the Universal Champion for the second time was certainly not 'best for business'.

#1 Daniel Bryan's heel turn

Bryan as a face was more entertaining

Daniel Bryan shocked the entire WWE Universe when he won the WWE Championship from AJ Styles with the help of a low blow. Bryan's heel turn was not at all expected. He is one of the best faces in the history of WWE. His heel turn was unnecessary, and was poorly booked by the WWE.

Bryan won the WWE title and went on to face Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series PPV. Everyone knew beforehand that he stood no chance against Lesnar. Therefore the question still remains unanswered - why did WWE make Daniel Bryan turn heel and win the WWE Championship?

This shows lack of creativity on the part of the creative team. The WWE management should never have allowed these mistakes to happen. They should be careful in the future, and think of long term consequences, and not short term profits.
