WWE Superstars go through extensive training ahead of their on-screen debuts so that they are prepared for what awaits them.

Superstars often break character in interviews or online but it's very rare that wrestlers break character when they are performing on WWE TV. That being said, there are times when superstars are not prepared for what happens and accidentally break character.

One of the more famous recent moments saw current AEW star Chris Jericho forced to break character when Neville (a.k.a PAC) suffered an injury in his match and couldn't continue. The referee wouldn't count the three for Jericho so the former world champion was forced to get himself disqualified.

The following list looks at just five current WWE stars who have broken character on WWE TV in the past.

#5. Former WWE Champion Randy Orton

Randy Orton has been performing on WWE TV and in front of live audiences now for almost two decades. Despite this level of experience, Orton has been known to break character on WWE TV on several occasions.

One of the best-known incidences of this came back in 2009 when The Viper faced off against Kofi Kingston. The finish to the match was reportedly supposed to see Kingston hit with a punt kick, but the former World Champion stood back up and forced Orton to deliver an RKO instead.

Orton then ranted at Kingston in the middle of the match, calling him "stupid" before finally pinning him. This mistake went on to cost Kingston his push in WWE and is one of the most memorable moments of his career.

Orton was obviously annoyed that he was unable to use his Punt Kick finish on Kingston and made that clear after he delivered the RKO. Kingston learned from his mistake and the two men have since wrestled each other numerous times without any issues surfacing.

The Legend Killer later went on to break character at Survivor Series back in 2016 when Shane McMahon seemingly suffered a concussion following a spear from Roman Reigns.

McMahon's sons and his wife were positioned at ringside and, after seeing the fear in the eyes of his children, The Viper went over mid-match and made it clear to them that their father was alright.

#4. Former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Shayna Baszler

R-Truth has made it his mission in recent years to see how many of his fellow WWE stars he can force to break character.

The most infamous example of this came back when R-Truth and Brock Lesnar were part of an on-screen segment on RAW. Truth was able to make the World Champion laugh. Of course, Truth was forced to take an F5 for his troubles, but it was worth it to see Brock Lesnar break character.

Whilst Brock Lesnar was quite the feat, R-Truth was also able to add former Women's Champion Shayna Baszler to his list on an episode of RAW Talk.

Baszler made it clear that she had dominated every woman in the locker room before stating that catering at RAW was also poor. This led to R-Truth stating that the fried fish was good and it was because Baszler hadn't put Tartare sauce on it.

This was enough to break Shayna who was forced to put her head down and hide her face so that the WWE Universe couldn't see that she was laughing.

#3. Current WWE Superstar Humberto Carrillo

Humberto Carrillo recently returned to WWE Monday Night RAW and has stepped into a feud with Sheamus. The former 205 Live superstar took on the United States Champion last month on RAW but their match was cut short due to injury.

Carrillo was looking for a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the ring apron but Sheamus came down awkwardly on his opponent's midsection. An obviously injured Carrillo then lifted himself up off the mat, looked directly at the camera, and signaled that the match was over because he couldn't continue.

The official then came over and checked on both men before calling for the bell since the two stars were both down and unable to recover. This is the first time Carrillo has broken character on WWE TV. Luckily his injury wasn't too severe and he was able to pick up the rivalry with Sheamus a week later.

The two men are currently feuding on WWE TV and the United States Champion recently suffered a broken nose at the hands of Carrillo.

#2. Former WWE World Champion Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns has become the face of WWE since his return to the company at last year's SummerSlam. The current Universal Champion often kicks off SmackDown with a promo alongside his Special Counsel Paul Heyman, which set the standard for the show.

Last month, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns headed to the ring to deliver a ten-bell salute to Daniel Bryan after Reigns ended his career the week before following a match on SmackDown. Unlike the usual ten-bell salutes on WWE TV, this one saw Heyman himself shout "ding" rather than an actual bell ringing.

It's unclear if Reigns was aware that this was going to happen ahead of time. He clearly found it hilarious and went on to break character by laughing at Heyman as he continued the salute.

The former world champion was able to compose himself well enough to finish the segment, but many fans noticed that he was caught off guard by his own special counsel, which has become rare for Reigns since his recent return.

#1. Former WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks hasn't been seen on WWE TV for a number of weeks after losing her SmackDown Women's Championship to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania.

The former Women's Champion made history back in April when she main evented WrestleMania alongside Belair, becoming the youngest female to main event the show as well as being part of the first women's singles match.

The occasion was obviously a huge moment for both women and Bianca Belair showed this as she teared up in the ring following her victory. Banks was on the floor outside the ring, allowing The EST of WWE to have her time to take in her win, when she broke character.

The Boss was so happy for Belair and was obviously overcome in the moment as she was spotted laughing and smiling despite the fact that she had just lost her SmackDown Women's Championship.

Banks had just main evented WrestleMania and had been able to accomplish one of her dreams, which could be why she was so happy despite the loss.
