When Shinsuke Nakamura was called up on the main roster, everyone expected the WWE Creative to unleash him as the King of Strong Style; instead, the Creative team transformed him into an Artist and a non-sensical Rockstar. This left the WWE Universe scratching their heads as the former NXT Champion was being built as a complete chump.
However, all seemed good when Nakamura won the Royal Rumble match of 2018 and set up a dream clash with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34. The Rockstar failed to repeat his NJPW magic and is currently a part of the SmackDown tag team division.
Nakamura was never given an opportunity to wrestle a top quality superstar as he was pit against the likes of Aiden English, Dolph Ziggler, and other jobbers time and again. Probably, a feud with Dean Ambrose in his initial days may have helped Nakamura establish himself on the main roster.
An appealing build-up to the top was all Nakamura needed to succeed and Dean Ambrose would have been the right guy to kickstart Shinsuke's WWE career.
This feud would have done wonders for Ambrose's career as well, as he would have affirmed his position as the company's most reliable superstar.
