Some dream matches can take place in 2018

2017 has come to an end and the WWE universe is already setting sights on 2018. There is so much to look forward to in 2018, including the Royal Rumble match itself and The Show of Shows, Wrestlemania. 2017 had some ups and downs and the WWE universe will hope that WWE capitalises on doing what is truly best for business by giving the fans some dream matches.

The WWE managed to give the fans some great matches in 2017 including John Cena vs AJ Styles, Roman Reigns vs John Cena and Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman among few other more. However, there have been dream matches that the WWE let pass by in the past such as Stone Cold vs Hogan, Sting vs Undertaker, just to mention a few. In 2018, however, there are potential dream matches that the WWE can still give the fans.

Here are the 5 dream matches the WWE can give us in 2018;

#5 Shane McMahon vs Triple H

There appears to be unknown animosity between Shane McMahon and Triple H. With Triple H already making his in-ring return at the Survivor Series, an encounter with Shane McMahon would be an interesting one and would cause a lot of buzzes.

The WWE Universe have speculated and anticipated a match between the two for quite some time now. The issues between these two corporate giants would best be solved in a WWE ring at Wrestlemania. The two brothers-in-law last collided at the Survivor Series after Triple H pinned Shane McMahon to give Team Raw victory over Team SmackDown. A feud between the two should, therefore, be re-kindled to set up a big match at Wrestlemania.

Expect Stephanie McMahon to take her husband's side whereas Shane might just get the Chairman's backing. A match of such magnitude would have big stipulations and the implications would be severe. Sledgehammers and high-risk manoeuvres would dominate this match.

#4 Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey is widely expected to make her WWE debut in 2018. She has been spotted training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida in recent months. The Royal Rumble, therefore, presents the perfect avenue for Ronda's seemingly inevitable WWE debut. A Ronda Rousey victory at the Royal Rumble could set up potential dream matches at Wrestlemania 34 in New Orleans.

The one dream match that would make the most sense is a match against Charlotte Flair. Charlotte Flair is the current SmackDown's Women's Champion. During the Mae Young Classic on July 14, 2017, Ronda Rousey had a face-off with Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley in what appeared to tease a future collision.

A Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair match has mainstream marquee value and is a match the WWE would capitalize on. Charlotte is one of the most established Women wrestlers today and an encounter with Ronda Rosey at the biggest stage would be truly a mouth-watering clash and is a dream match that can happen this coming year.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura vs AJ Styles

AJ Styles made history when he defeated Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship in England on the November 7 episode of SmackDown Live in Manchester, England. This marked the first time the title changed hands on SmackDown since September 2003, claiming his second WWE Championship and becoming recognized by WWE as the first titleholder crowned outside of North America.

Nakamura, on the other hand, is a former NXT champion and the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in history, having won the title for the first time at the age of 23 years and 9 months.

Both Nakamura and Styles wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and they have a long history that began several years ago. The two had a memorable match when they met at the Wrestle Kingdom 10 on January 4th, 2016. The match was in the conversation for match of the year in 2016 as the two wrestlers put on a spectacular show that night.

Nakamura won the match in what was a mouth-watering clash for the ages after 25 minutes of back and forth action. This match marked Syles last appearance in Japan before debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble. The WWE can rekindle this rivalry by having Nakamura challenge Styles for the WWE Championship at the biggest stage, Wrestlemania 34, to give the fans a great main event contest at Wrestlemania.

#2 Kurt Angle vs Triple H

Triple H is the Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative for WWE and makes sporadic television appearances. Kurt Angle, on the other hand, is the current Raw General Manager.

On November 19, 2017, at the Survivor Series In the main event, Team Raw (Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Finn Bálor, Samoa Joe, and Triple H) faced Team SmackDown (Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, and John Cena) in a 5-on-5 elimination match, with the stipulation being that if Team Raw were to lose, Angle would be fired as Raw General Manager. In the final moments of the match, as Angle had Shane in the Angle Lock, Triple H turned on Angle and performed the Pedigree on him and then placed Shane on top of him to eliminate Angle. Triple H did this to claim credit for Team Raw's victory as he performed the Pedigree on Shane to eliminate him and win the match.

There is no love lost between these two legends who are both healthy enough and in good physical condition to put on a good match. They have faced each other multiple times in the past and so they know each other too well. Kurt Angle is yet to revenge on Triple H following The Game's actions at Survivor Series. An "Angle Slam" on an unexpecting Triple H could be on the works to set up a dream match between the two.

Lest we forget, there was even a time in 2000 when the two had a feud over Stephanie's affections.

#1 John Cena vs The Undertaker

Rumours of The Undertaker's retirement have been going around for a few years. He, however, has returned every WrestleMania season for the past six years to compete in high-profile matches and most of his matches have been the main attractions if not the in the main event. At WrestleMania 33, he gave us a reason to believe he is finally retiring after suffering a painful defeat to Roman Reigns. Most people, therefore, do not expect to see him perform in the ring again. That being said, at 52, he still has the energy to compete inside the squared circle at least one more time.

There has been some speculation which has indicated that The Undertaker is not hanging his boots just yet and is expected to set up his next match when he appears at the 25th anniversary of Raw. Rumours of The Undertaker appearing to be in good shape has also been rife. John Cena is the only big name The Undertaker is yet to face at Wrestlemania. A match between the two has been teased numerous times with sources indicating that they were initially scheduled to face each other at Wrestlemania 32 before Cena suffered a shoulder injury. "The Dead Man" went to face Shane McMahon instead in a Hell in Cell match. The match-up between these two legends can be set at the 25th anniversary of Raw when The Undertaker returns. He could issue a challenge to Cena for one final dance, and Cena who is known to never back down from a challenge would gladly accept.
