NXT has been seen as WWE's developmental territory for quite some time now, but it's become a legitimate third brand in recent times, and with so much talent down there, the brand is truly taking over.

While the wrestlers in NXT aren't inherently better, they are booked much better, and its seen fans regard NXT much better than WWE, but with WWE being such a big stage, they're all trying to get to the main roster, so we've decided to take a look into the future.

So without further ado, today we are going to look at 5 of the top stars from NXT, and the dream opponents we'd love to see for each of them when they finally arrive on the big stage of RAW or SmackDown Live.

#5 Pete Dunne vs AJ Styles

Pete Dunne
Pete Dunne

Right now, it can be argued that Pete Dunne is the best wrestler in the world, and after his bout with Walter at NXT Takeover: New York, it's hard to argue that he isn't a main event level talent already.

He's been ready for the main roster for years, and now that NXT UK is set up as it's own brand with Walter at the top, WWE needs to promote Dunne and allow him to have all the dream matches fans have for him.

The Bruiserweight can wrestle all different styles, and his relentless, brutal assaults make him a legit threat to anyone in WWE, so setting him up with the company's best immediately, makes sense.

It's only a matter of time until Dunne is in the main event of RAW, and seeing him battle Rollins, McIntyre, Reigns, Balor, and so many others will be great to see, but a battle with AJ Styles would be WrestleMania worthy, so keep an eye out for WrestleMania 36.

#4 Johnny Gargano vs Daniel Bryan

When looking at similarities in different performers in WWE, there are no two performers more alike than Daniel Bryan and Johnny Gargano, and seeing them clash would be fantastic.

Both men have a fantastic range as both a face and a heel, and inside the ropes, there are few in the entire world that can touch them, and after the constant classics Gargano has had over the past year, there's no way it wouldn't deliver on a 5-star level.

Both men have talked about the desire to get in the ring with the other, and with both men being at the peak of their powers right now, it's something WWE needs to work hard to make happen.

The story would be an easy one too - fans see Johnny Wrestling as the next Daniel Bryan, and Daniel being the heel he is would make it clear that Johnny isn't on his level, and it's a WrestleMania level feud.

#3 The Velveteen Dream vs Bray Wyatt

Seeing him in the ring with someone just as unique as him would be incredible
Seeing him in the ring with someone just as unique as him would be incredible

One thing that you can't measure in WWE is 'it factor', and no matter what way you look at it, the current North American Champion has that in spades. The Dream is beyond incredible in all phases of sports entertainment, and he makes every feud he competes in special, so coming to the main roster, he'd have people lining up to challenge him.

While seeing the Dream confuse the bad-ass performers like Aleister Black with his antics is always quite fun, seeing him in the ring with someone just as unique as him would be incredible, and that man is Bray Wyatt.

We've yet to see Wyatt put his Firefly Funhouse gimmick in the ring, but it's safe to say that with his talent and charisma, it will work, and these two would make a feud as entertaining as they would enthralling.

#2 The Undisputed Era vs The New Day

The Era!
The Era!

Since the days of Evolution, we've not seen a 4-person group in WWE as talented as Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Roderick Strong, and if they stay together on the main roster, they'll be untouchable.

The group is a merchandise selling machine, and whether it's tag matches, singles bouts, or War Games demolitions, there are few in the company that can touch their level of talent.

After the split of Sanity (who are only 3 on the main roster, but were 4 on NXT), there are no other good quartets in the company, but there is a very entertaining trio on SmackDown Live looking for new opponents.

When the dream run at the top for Kofi Kingston comes to an end, these guys will be looking to carry the tag team division on SmackDown Live, and if WWE Creative is smart, this would be the introductory feud for The Era on the blue brand.

#1 Matt Riddle vs Brock Lesnar

Matt Riddle!
Matt Riddle!

For years now, even pre-dating his WWE days, Matt Riddle has been talking about retiring Brock Lesnar, and now that The Beast is seemingly back in WWE for the near future, it could happen.

Given the way he's been booked so far in his NXT career, Riddle looks like a dangerous star, and if he is used properly on the main roster, he'll be a main event talent from the get-go.

The Original Bro is quite likable, but beyond that, he's a dangerous striker and one of the most well-rounded performers in the company, and he's only getting better.

If Brock is with WWE by the time WrestleMania 36 rolls around, WWE would be incredibly wise to push Riddle, and if he was the one to retire The Beast, he'd be a mega-star on the level we haven't seen for years with the company.
