Back in September, it was reported that John Morrison was returning to WWE. Tonight on WWE Backstage, Ryan Satin confirmed that Morrison has indeed signed a contract with the company.

Morrison's initial WWE run was nothing short of impressive. He had a short stint on SmackDown Live as a part of M.N.M., alongside Joey Mercury and Melina. Morrison won the vacant ECW title by defeating CM Punk at Vengeance: Night of Champions 2007. He later teamed up with The Miz and went on to become a singles competitor on SmackDown after the duo split up. Morrison split with WWE in late 2011.

Now that Morrison is back in WWE, we will possibly get to see a string of never-before-seen matches with Morrison taking on the absolute best WWE has to offer. Let's take a look at 5 feuds for Morrison upon his return.

#5 Rey Mysterio

Morrison couldn't have come back at a better time, as former World Champion Rey Mysterio is currently an active WWE Superstar. Many fans won't be aware of the fact that when Morrison debuted on SmackDown as a part of M.N.M., the duo won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero in their debut match.

After his WWE exit, Morrison met Mysterio in a tournament at a 5 Star Wrestling event, in a winning effort. Before this outing, he defeated Mysterio to win his 3rd Intercontinental title on SmackDown. This history could be played out in a potential feud between the two. Morrison and Mysterio's wrestling styles mesh incredibly well, resulting in must-see high-flying bouts.

It's not known whether Morrison will directly make his way to the main roster or go through NXT first. A direct move to Monday Night RAW will open up the possibility for a Morrison vs Mysterio match in the near future.

#4 AJ Styles

The Phenomenal One made his way to WWE in 2016, years after Morrison had left the company. Before coming to WWE though, Styles met Morrison in an FWE Heavyweight Championship match and defeated him to win the title. If WWE decides to bring back Morrison as a babyface, a feud with AJ Styles would be a great way to introduce the former ECW Champion to today's WWE fans.

Styles is someone who can carry almost anyone to a great match, and these two going at it in the squared circle is bound to produce an instant classic.

#3 Kofi Kingston

John Morrison and Kofi Kingston used to share a major similarity back when both were active wrestlers in WWE. Both of these Superstars were high-flyers and were capable of giving a fast-paced match at any time. Another similarity between the two was their ability to save themselves from eliminations in the Royal Rumble match in creative ways.

The two have had a history of coming up with interesting ideas to save themselves from being eliminated in the annual free-for-all.

A short feud involving the two would not only produce a bunch of exciting bouts, but we might also get to see them showing off some of their high-flying moves that wowed us around a decade ago.

#2 Seth Rollins

After losing the Universal title, Rollins has kicked off a feud with Kevin Owens, and it seems like WWE just might turn him heel again. Here's where Morrison comes handy. These two have very similar wrestling styles. A babyface Morrison would be a perfect fit to give insane heel heat to a newly turned Rollins if he does so in the near future.

A couple of wins over Morrison using nefarious means would quickly establish Rollins back as a hated heel. What's more, we will get to see these two compete against each other in what is a dream bout in many fans' eyes.

#1 The Miz

There's A LOT of history here! When The Miz and Morrison split in 2009, the former went on to become WWE Champion, while Morrison never achieved this feat. Fans might remember The Miz taking a slight jibe at Morrison following his WWE title win, and stating that "he's not the Jannetty". This was in reference to the fact that just like Marty Jannetty of The Rockers, Morrison didn't do much after the split, and The Miz went on to become WWE Champion like Shawn Michaels did back in the 90s.

This little detail could be used to ignite a feud between The Miz and Morrison immediately upon the latter's return. The video packages highlighting the history between the two would alone be worth the price of admission.
