5 former WWE superstars who were not asked to return for Raw's 25th Anniversary

Raw's 25th Anniversary is now merely a day away and whilst New York City will now be seeing an influx of current and former WWE superstars arriving ahead of the event, it seems that there will be a number of stars who will be missing from the show.

As with every company, there are a number of stars that WWE decided not to ask when it comes to returning to be part of tomorrow night's celebrations for one reason or another. Whilst there are a number of legends who can't attend tomorrow night because they have legitimate reasons for their absence, these are the superstars that it is thought that the company didn't approach regarding a return.

#5. Alberto Del Rio

Given the past year that Albert Del Rio has had and the things that he has said about WWE in interviews, it is easy to see why the company haven't approached the Mexican superstar about a return tomorrow night.

Del Rio is under contract with Impact Wrestling so it seems that he isn't someone who is expected to return to the company tomorrow night anyway. Del Rio did recently extend an olive branch and apologised to Triple H for some of the comments that he made about him as it seems that Del Rio could be interested in a return but the company don't look as though they are ready to respond.

#4. Sunny

It's easy to see why WWE wouldn't want to invite Sunny back to Raw

Sunny is a WWE Hall of Famer and someone who has a lot of history in WWE since she is considered to be the first ever WWE Diva. Sunny was seen as a fantastic manager throughout the 1990s but her personal issues have seen her reputation squander in recent years which could be why WWE have distanced themselves from the former star.

Sunny is someone who represents the way WWE once saw their Women's Division and would remind the WWE Universe of the throwback era that the company are trying to get past, which could be one of the reasons that she hasn't been approached about a return. Sunny's recent personal issues could be another reason, even though she has recently begun accepting help and working on moving forward.

#3. Hulk Hogan

Are WWE ready to forgive and forget when it comes to Hogan?
Is WWE ready to forgive and forget when it comes to Hogan?

Hulk Hogan was once one of the best-known wrestlers in the world, he was the face of the company for a number of years which has allowed him to return to the company a number of times over the past few decades.

It seems that this isn't one of those occasions, WWE fired Hogan after racist comments were leaked to the public back in 2015 and it seems that they are not ready to accept him back just yet. Hogan has repeatedly asked for forgiveness and has since tried to move forward with recent rumours linking him with a WWE return, but it seems that the company hasn't reached out to Hogan.

The former Champion posted on Twitter a few days ago that he would be watching Raw from home and cheering on his friends instead.

#2. Gail Kim

Gail Kim has become one of the best female wrestlers that TNA has ever seen as a record-setting seven-time Knockout's Champion and even though she recently announced her retirement from wrestling, it seems that she isn't ready to return to WWE.

Kim famously eliminated herself from a women's battle royale and walked out of the company for good a number of years ago and it seems that even though she would be the perfect person to return to WWE ahead of the historic Royal Rumble match, Kim stated after her second departure that she would never return to the company.

#1. CM Punk

Punk is definitely someone that the WWE Universe hoped would return
Punk is definitely someone that the WWE Universe hoped would return

CM Punk walked away from WWE almost four years ago following the 2014 Royal Rumble and after he exposed the company and all of their shortfalls in an interesting episode of Colt Cabana's podcast later that year, it seems that Punk has moved forward into a career in MMA.

It has taken four years for WWE to stop the WWE Universe from chanting his name and for the company to move forward as well, which could be why the idea of bringing Punk back, even if he was open to a return wouldn't have been the best idea for WWE anyway.

Punk was never someone that the company could control when he had a mic so the idea of bringing him back to the company whilst he isn't under contract is something that WWE would never have been open to doing.
