5 Impromptu matches that happened at WrestleMania

Undertaker vs John Cena isn't the first match to remain unconfirmed ahead of WrestleMania

The final Raw before this year's WrestleMania has now come and gone and it seems that the highly anticipated matchup between John Cena and The Undertaker is still yet to be confirmed.

This has led to speculation that The Undertaker could show up in New Orleans and he and Cena could have an impromptu match at the biggest event of the year.

Reports now suggest that WWE doesn't feel that the match needs much build because ticket sales are already going well based on the card that they already have.

Even though this is obviously not the traditional way that WWE usually plans matches ahead of WrestleMania, it seems that it isn't the first time the company has allowed a match to take place without an official confirmation ahead of the event.

#5 Daniel Bryan vs. Batista vs. Randy Orton - WrestleMania 30

Daniel Bryan had a fantastic 2014, so much so that WrestleMania 30 was even dubbed YesleMania in honour of the star, who managed to overcome an extreme amount of obstacles to leave WrestleMania 30 with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Bryan actually pulled double duty at the event when he was forced to face Triple H with a stipulation that only if he was able to defeat the WWE COO he could fight for the title in the main event against Royal Rumble winner Batista and Champion Randy Orton.

Of course, Bryan found a way past Triple H and put himself into the match that he later won to become Champion, sadly this was the beginning of Bryan's downfall since he was later forced to relinquish the title due to injury.

#4 Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna - WrestleMania IX

This was one of the biggest swerves of the night since the main event for the show was Bret Hart vs Yokozuna.

After Yokozuna's manager Mr. Fuji threw salt in Hart's eyes and allowed the Samoan star to pick up the win and pick up the World Championship, Hulk Hogan made his way to the ring to check on Hart, despite having a match earlier and being on the losing end.

Hogan had previously stated that he wanted to face the winner of the match and it seems that Mr' Fuji took that seriously and challenged Hogan to a match there and then. Hulkster accepted and 22 seconds later he was the World Champion.

#3 WrestleMania 27 Battle Royal

Throughout his reign as SmackDown General Manager, Teddy Long became known for interrupting superstars and making impromptu tag team matches but it seems that the one time that Long was allowed to do this at WrestleMania, he actually set up a battle royal instead.

Daniel Bryan faced Sheamus for the United States Championship in a pre-show lumberjack match, but when the lumberjacks started to brawl on the outside and forced the match to end in a no-contest, Long came out and set up a battle royal.

The Great Khali was the man who picked up the victory, a full three years before The Andre The Giant Battle Royal was made an annual match.

#2 The Rock vs Erick Rowan - WrestleMania 32

One of the most famous impromptu WrestleMania matches happened just over two years ago when The Rock took on Erick Rowan.

The People's Champion was seemingly only there to announce that the WWE Universe had broken the record for the attendance figures inside the AT&T Stadium before he was then confronted by The Wyatt Family.

The Rock then laid down the challenge for a match and Rowan accepted, incredibly this is not only the best-known impromptu match, but it is also one that made history for being the shortest WrestleMania match at just six seconds.

#1 Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns - WrestleMania 31

WrestleMania 34 isn't the first time that Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns have headlined the biggest event of the year.

The duo first battled at WrestleMania 31 three years ago but their match was never finished because Seth Rollins made history by coming out and cashing in his Money In the Bank contract.

This was the first time WrestleMania had seen a cash in and it forced the match into a triple threat where Rollins was able to pin his old Shield teammate to become World Champion for the first time.
