If no one else will say it, I will. Most of Monday Night Raw is just useless filler that doesn't deserve our time and attention. There just doesn't seem to be any direction in mind for 2/3rd of a show that runs for a monstrous three hours week in and week out.
The opening segment and the closing segments are the really interesting ones with a few gems in between. It's been a long, long time since Monday nights have been exciting from the time Raw goes on the air to the time it goes off the air.
The biggest problem is, without a shadow of a doubt, the three-hour format. It is just not conducive for a good show. But, there is no way in hell the WWE is going to dial their flagship show back down to two hours. Which now begs the question, what do you do to ensure the show is great for all three hours?
Well, the smartass answer would be to say that the show needs to be better. The deeper question is how do you improve the show? Well, one thing that can be done is the introduction of some new storylines to help build up the excitement up and down the card.
So, without any further ado, here is a list of 5 interesting storylines for Monday Night Raw which can spice up the show:
#5 Sasha Banks vs. Bayley
Sasha Banks and Bayley put on one of the hottest feuds in the history of NXT during their time in the developmental program together. They were both touted for great things on the main roster and for the most part, they have delivered.
However, the issue here is that the WWE seems hesitant to pull the trigger on a feud between the two. A Sasha heel turn was teased for ages until the whole angle just disappeared. Now, with The Boss involved in a nonsense feud with Alicia Fox and Bayley engaged in a garbage Kendo Stick on a Pole angle with Alexa Bliss, the women's division is struggling.
All the WWE needs to do for the women's division to matter is put The Hugger against her old nemesis from NXT. The story is already written. It's just a case of putting it out there and reaping the rewards.
#4 The Revival take on The Hardy Boyz
The Hardy Boyz have been incredibly over since their return, but that gloss is wearing off due to the lack of competition in the tag team division. The Raw Tag Team Champions having singles match with Sheamus & Cesaro week after week is just plain boring despite the latter pair's recent heel turn.
What the tag team division really needs is for The Revival to be given a shot at the belts against Matt and Jeff Hardy. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have proven themselves to be the best tag team in NXT before their promotion to the main roster, and they are the epitome of tag team wrestling.
Having the two teams square off would be the perfect storm of heels and faces with The Revival's heelish ways unrivalled in the business. Add to that the different styles of the teams and you have a must watch feud in the tag team division.
#3 Kurt Angle's final WWE match
Kurt Angle is expected to have one last match in the WWE before hanging up his wrestling boots for good. It's pretty much what his General Manager role is building up towards. And, the sooner the WWE gets going on that angle – if you'll excuse the pun – the better Monday Night Raw will be.
Choose a young star such to square off against the legend and see the magic unfold. Everyone will want to see Angle's final match, and it will be a humungous opportunity for his chosen opponent to get over.
This storyline coupled with Angle's duties as General Manager will add a very very interesting dynamic to what happens on Raw every week.

#2 The battle of the Samoans
Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns are two of the baddest men on Monday Night Raw along with Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar. With the latter two scheduled to face off, it makes a lot of sense to have Joe and Roman lock horns.
It will be an evenly matched contest, and by booking it in the right manner, you can have both men get incredibly over with the crowd. After all, Joe's routine of attacking Seth Rollins every week has gotten a little stale, and he needs to face someone who can stand up to his power.
This would also present Roman with a great opponent who will force him to elevate his game. As long as he doesn’t come out of it looking like Superman, this will be the perfect feud for him.
#1 The return of Brock Lesnar
The single worst thing on Monday Night Raw at this point is the lack of a major title. Bring Brock Lesnar and the WWE Universal Championship back, and the show instantly becomes 100 times more interesting. We need to see The Beast Incarnate lock horns with someone with the Title on the line and business will pick up immediately.
The WWE made a good start by bringing Paul Heyman on this past week's episode, and they need to build on that to spice up Monday nights.
