5 Issues WWE may face if Ronda Rousey leaves WWE after WrestleMania 35

Many storylines could fall into disarray after Ronda Rousey's departure
Many storylines could fall into disarray after Ronda Rousey's departure

Ronda Rousey made her name first in the Olympics, and then in the world of Mixed Martial Arts soon after. She would leave a lasting impression in Hollywood too. But one of her childhood dreams was to compete in WWE. She has been a lifelong fan of the art, and Rousey longed to get into a WWE ring someday.

Many scoffed at her for making the transition. They dubbed her a coward, moving only when her stock had fallen in the MMA world after a string of losses. But Rousey excelled in her role and stole the show as few others have in the history of the company.

However, much to the shock of the WWE Universe, The Wrestling Observer has reported that Ronda Rousey may finish up with her WWE duties come WrestleMania 35. If such is the case, won't WWE storylines fall into disarray?

After all, she has been the focal point of the RAW Women's Division for many months now.

#5 A Rousey vs. Asuka feud

Remember when Asuka won the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match? Much to the surprise and shock of everyone in the building, Ronda Rousey showed up soon after to shake her hand and congratulate her. Asuka shook her hand away, leading to the possibility of a match between the two women.

Currently, both women are on different brands. There's a high likelihood that both of them will be Champions of their respective brands following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that a clash between them will ever come to pass.

There are very few super-fights in the women's division that we have not seen yet. Rousey and Asuka would have been a dream match, and it's a shame if it never happens.

#4 No Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler feud either

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler have followed a similar path to arrive at WWE. Both of them are huge wrestling fans, who had a chance to live their dream inside a WWE ring. Both of them achieved huge success in their respective brands.

While Ronda Rousey is the RAW Women's Champion, Shayna Baszler is the NXT Women's Champion. One would have assumed that a match between these two fast friends and MMA superstars would have happened in due course of time. But if Rousey were to leave WWE after WrestleMania 35, I don't see this happening really.

Whether Baszler wins or loses at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix against Bianca Belair, I assume she will be in the title program on WrestleMania weekend. It would also not make sense to bring her up to the main roster, so very soon after the arrival of Lacey Evans and Nikki Cross.

#3 No Four Horsewomen vs. MMA Four Horsewomen match

Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch have paved the way for the women's division in WWE to rise to the level that it currently has. Because of Charlotte's obvious family connections, they dubbed themselves the 'Four Horsewomen'.

Of course, Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke also call themselves the Four Horsewomen because of their love of and admiration for The Four Horsemen. And a match between the two factions has been teased by WWE on more than one occasion.

Of course, this match could certainly happen before WrestleMania 35 but will it make sense to have Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch patch up? Also, are Duke and Shafir ready for a match of this magnitude considering that they're fairly new to sports entertainment?

If I had to wager a guess, I would probably say no, because WrestleMania next year would have been the ideal site for such a match.

#2 Who can claim the spotlight from Rousey?

Not everyone is a fan of Ronda Rousey's monopoly over the RAW Women's Division. But the fact of the matter is that she's taken charge of the brand and she has been the leader who's led the women to the next level. Someone else will have to assume the same role if Ronda Rousey goes away.

Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella main evented Evolution because they are the two biggest stars in the division at the moment. A women's only pay-per-view may lack the star power to sell out the arena without Ronda Rousey being featured in the bill. Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Ruby Riott just aren't big enough names.

Could WWE split up Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch and have them on two separate brands? Of course, they could but each individual brand may suffer as a result of their absence, leading to declining viewership.

#1 The proposed deal with FOX

Not long ago, a rumour came to light that may have severe future implications. FOX indicated that when SmackDown Live moves to their network, they want Ronda Rousey to be part of it. If Rousey is not part of the deal, WWE could face some major complications indeed. One wonders which female superstar will be able to replace her, in the eyes of FOX.

Apparently, Ronda Rousey is quite overwhelmed by the WWE scheduled. It is only natural to feel this way, coming from a UFC background as she has done. UFC fighters only fight a handful of times every year while WWE Superstars are constantly on the road through the course of the year.

Will the FOX deal go through even without Ronda Rousey? I'm sure it will but it may mean some big names may have to quit the RAW brand.

Let's hope that Ronda Rousey signs on for another year, at least!
