5 legendary WWE Superstars who can be Roman Reigns' tag team partner

Brock Lesnar versus Braun Strowman may be the main event for the Universal Championship at No Mercy in a couple of weeks, but there is only one match on that card that has everybody talking: Roman Reigns facing off against John Cena.

A few weeks ago, "Big Match John" arrived on Monday Night Raw and got straight down to business by calling out "The Big Dog". In the weeks that have followed both men have left everything in the ring when it has come to their promo battles, and it would be fair to say that Roman has been shown up a little bit.

As soon as the former Shield man stutters or forgets one of his lines, Cena has pounced on him and ripped him to shreds. However, we've also seen them team up together with pretty good results.

Which begs the question, what other WWE legends would make good tag partners for The Guy?

#5 Goldberg

Goldberg made a triumphant return to WWE last year after an almost thirteen-year absence from professional wrestling. Top of his hit list, of course, was Brock Lesnar and unfortunately, when that long and heated feud came to an end, Goldberg took his leave.

In the five months that Goldberg was back, WWE could have maybe gotten a little more out of the iconic former WCW Superstar. One of the most memorable moments of his return run came when he and Roman Reigns both speared Braun Strowman at the same time.

Sadly though it didn't lead anywhere, and WWE could have really built something out of the two of them tagging together, even if it was just the one time. Never say never though and if Goldberg does return then these two tagging together is a must.

#4 CM Punk

WWE is very much in the business of desperately trying to get the fans to love Roman Reigns as much as Vince McMahon does. They've tried so many different things to earn that love over the past few years and no matter what they do, the majority of the WWE Universe continues to reject him.

One of the company's favourite things to do is put Roman alongside a Superstar who always gets cheered. They did it with The Rock after Reigns won the Royal Rumble and it failed miserably, plus they've tried it briefly since Seth Rollins returned from his injury in 2016.

At this point it feels like the only man WWE could align Roman Reigns with and actually see him get cheered is a returning CM Punk. Not likely, but it was comments that Punk made about Reigns that got fans hating him so much in the first place.

#3 Brock Lesnar

WWE currently seems to enjoy forcing rivals to team up with each other. As touched upon previously they are currently doing that with John Cena and Roman Reigns, plus on Raw recently, bitter enemies Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks were forced to pair up.

There would be no tag team on the roster right now -- or maybe ever -- more destructive if Brock Lesnar and The Big Dog were forced to team up.

All signs point towards the two of them clashing once again at WrestleMania 34, so with the current pattern, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of impossibility to see a Brock and Roman coalition. "The Beast" doesn't tag very often though, and he would likely take a lot of convincing to do so.

#2 The Undertaker

There is perhaps no greater honour for an active professional wrestler than getting to compete against The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Not only did Roman Reigns get that opportunity, but he became one of just two men to beat him on the "Grandest Stage Of Them All". Plus at this point, it seems like it may have been The Deadman's last ever match. What if it isn't though?

There has been no formal announcement that The Undertaker has retired from pro wrestling, and rumours of his return are not done quite yet. The Phenom could return during next year's WrestleMania season to seek revenge on Roman, only to find common ground with "The Big Dog" and team up with him to take on all comers.

It would be pretty special and would also mean less work to do for a returning Taker.

#1 The Rock

As mentioned a little earlier WWE has sort of tried this one before. When Reigns won the Royal Rumble in 2015 the company were clearly expecting some backlash from the fans. That's why they had Roman's cousin, The Rock, ready to go out there and celebrate with him. Famously the plan backfired and fans still booed that year's Rumble winner.

Nevertheless, The Rock is still one of the biggest Superstars WWE has ever produced and is beloved by the fans. It has now been almost a year and a half since we last saw "The People's Champ" in WWE, so whenever he does return he is bound to get a big pop.

How about letting the still disliked Roman Reigns share in that pop? The two could form some sort of Samoan Dynasty team and clean house on Raw during the upcoming WrestleMania season.
