5 Major things that will happen if Seth Rollins turns heel

Seth Rollins lost his Universal Championship to The Fiend Bray Wyatt at Crown Jewel 2019. The title change had to happen due to the backlash that WWE received after the Hell in a Cell PPV last month. While this made The Fiend the top star in the company, it raised questions among fans regarding Seth Rollins' future.

During the build-up to Survivor Series, WWE has been teasing a heel turn for Rollins, which has intrigued the fans. Triple H had come over to invade RAW with his NXT crew and offered Rollins to join forces with the Black and Gold Brand. However, he has stayed loyal to his brand so far, which may just be a ruse before he changes character.

Turning him heel now would be a great choice as he doesn't have any momentum as a face, and fans have not been reacting positively to him. Since he's the captain of the RAW men's team for Survivor Series, he may very well side with NXT during the PPV and give them an upper hand.

Anyways if he does turn heel, there are major implications to it. In this article, we will go through five things that will happen if Seth Rollins turns heel.

#5 He will be back in contention for the WWE Championship

Once he turns heel, there is no doubt that he will be the top heel of the brand. Though there are a few others like Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles, Rollins will be the undisputed number one. And that means that he could be involved in the WWE Championship title picture at some point. It may not be immediate, but it will happen eventually.

However, there is one negative aspect to it as fans wouldn't want yet another feud between Rollins and Brock Lesnar. They've seen enough of that, and so it would be much better if Lesnar loses the title to someone else.

In that scenario, Rollins can challenge the babyface who does take the title of Lesnar. It has been a long time since he held the title, and he hasn't competed for it since mid-2016. Whether he wins the title or not remains a question, but there are no doubts regarding him competing for the WWE Championship.

#4 Fans will get back on his side

Fans will get behind him
Fans will get behind him

Seth Rollins was probably one of the most beloved Superstars in WWE for a long time. Regardless of his character, fans have always supported him due to his ability in the ring and his hard-working nature. But there is a breaking point to everything, and change is inevitable. Rollins faced Baron Corbin earlier this year, and it was a big downgrade from his feud against Brock Lesnar.

The downfall started there as the story wasn't interesting, and the feud lasted for months. After that, he took on The Fiend, which completely killed all his momentum as he started to get booed. It also didn't help that he was criticizing fans on social media for various reasons.

However, a heel turn could get those people back on his side and start respecting him more. It's what the fans want, and it's worth noting that he had some of his best matches a few years ago after he turned on The Shield. So he may be more comfortable doing that, which will only contribute to better programming.

#3 Kevin Owens becomes the face of RAW for a while

Seth Rollins has been one of the faces of RAW for well over a year now. Though he's been on a bit of a slump lately, he's mostly been very good and has been a part of some exciting storylines and matches. Therefore, it will be a hard job for anyone to replicate what Rollins did.

There aren't many established wrestlers on the RAW roster, who are ready to take that spot. Most of them don't have any momentum behind them right now, and it wouldn't make sense for WWE to place them on top of the company.

However, there is one person who has a ton of momentum right now, and that is Kevin Owens. His feud against Shane McMahon on SmackDown got a lot of fans behind him, and WWE must capitalize on that. Once Rollins turns heel, Owens will probably become the face of RAW.

#2 A short stint in NXT

In the build-up to Survivor Series, Triple H has been trying to convince Seth Rollins to join NXT. Rollins, who recently lost the Universal Championship to Bray Wyatt, has been finding it hard to get some momentum going for the last few weeks. It certainly doesn't help that he had to face the most popular Superstar in the company, The Fiend.

A problem that comes with being the top star like Rollins is overexposure. In this day and age, there is too much wrestling content available, and it's easy for fans to get tired of usual faces. Rollins has been a major part of RAW for a long time now, and that could be one of the reasons for his declining popularity.

To rectify that, WWE will mostly send him to NXT for a short run. Since NXT is now on TV and is in the middle of a 'war' with AEW, we have seen quite a few main roster wrestlers move to NXT. Rollins may do the same and have a light schedule for a while, which could refresh his characters and make things better when he does return to RAW.

#1 Other Superstars could be built

Any wrestling company's primary goal is to transform every wrestler from just a normal fighter into a star. WWE's current roster is the most talented it's ever been in over 30 years, but they have still struggled to establish certain wrestlers.

They need some larger than life, instantly recognizable athletes who will bring fame and success to the company. In the current roster, it's safe to say that there's no major star such as Stone Cold or The Rock or John Cena, who attained mainstream stardom.

Rollins isn't on the level of the previously mentioned wrestlers, but he is surely one of the big draws in the company. Once he turns heel, WWE will have to establish someone else to fit into that role. The opportunity is ripe though, to get behind the likes of Ricochet, Aleister Black among others, to elevate their status as a top star.
