Marlena is known as one of the best female managers WWE has seen. She made her first appearance in WWE during the 1996 Royal Rumble, just a year after Goldust made his debut for the company. Both Superstars were married in real-life and WWE decided to use their real-life chemistry on-screen. Marlena was a big hit and helped push Goldust’s character.

Goldust won the Intercontinental Championship at the 1996 Royal Rumble, making the presence of Marlena even more valuable.

After the duo worked together for over a year, Goldust turned heel in November 1997 and refused to work with his Survivor Series partners. This also led to his split with Marlena on-screen.

Goldust and Runnels had a rough time after a certain WWE storyline

While Marlena disappeared for some time, she returned in 1998 under her real name Terri Runnels and became the on-screen girlfriend of Val Venis. The company then ran a pregnancy angle between the two Superstars before Venis went on to dump Runnels.

She then went on to join forces with Jacqueline Moore and Ryan Shamrock to form the Pretty Mean Sisters (P.M.S.). The duo then added Meat (Shawn Stasiak) to their team with whom both had an on-screen relationship.

The team broke up a few months later as Jacqueline became tired of Runnels’ infatuation with Meat. It is also said that Runnels was having a real-life relationship with Stasiak behind the scenes and this proved to be one of the major reasons that led to her divorce with Goldust in 1999. Runnels, however, has completely denied any such rumors.
