5 missed points from the WWE Championship Match at Fastlane

This one would have hurt.
This one would have hurt

The main event from Fastlane was undoubtedly one of the best matches to close a PPV. The six of the very best from SmackDown left everything in the ring to make it a memorable watch for the fans.

While AJ Styles hogged all the limelight after winning the 6-Pack Challenge, there were plenty of incidents that went under the radar of fans hooked on to the show last Sunday.

Here are the five things that went unnoticed during this great match.

#1 John “Mighty” Cena

The power war!
The power war!

The “Franchise Player” delivered his patent Attitude Adjustment to every other Superstar in the bout. AJ Styles was the one to receive the best of the lot and was sent crashing through the announcers' table.

Although John Cena has been portrayed as a man with “no road” to WrestleMania, his performance on the night was at a different level. He has definitely been one guy whom you can cheer or boo, but definitely can’t ignore. He knows how to raise his game when the situation arises.

#2 A better main event than Elimination Chamber

Triumph and frustration, the moment had it all.
Triumph and frustration, the moment had it all

Last month Raw featured an Elimination Chamber match with seven of their best Superstars. Hence, the comparison between Fastlane’s main event with that match is unavoidable.

Fastlane’s main event stands out in quite a few aspects. Unlike the chamber match, where Strowman alone dominated the entire match, the match was quite “balanced” in terms of spotlight each Superstar had.

Styles was phenomenal (as he usually is), Owens-Zayn continued their bad-luck with Shane McMahon and Corbin made his presence felt when he took down his entire opponents briefly. Not to mention, this match was much more paced in comparison to the chamber match.

#3 Awesome commentary

Good job guys!
Good job guys

This was one of the rare occasions in the recent history of WWE where the commentary was spot on for the entire match. Hats off to the men at the table, they didn’t seem to miss a single beat.

From quite some time in the past, the commentators were found discussing about things other than the match or were getting involved in small talks among themselves. However, the announcing team ensured that none of the fast-paced action of the six men battling in the ring went unnoticed.

Just to add, there was a moment during Orton-Roode match where the team commented on the positioning of the top rope Suplex from Orton. The backstage team pulled and paused the replay at the exact frame. Spot on synchronization!

#4 What’s next for Dolph Ziggler?

What is his road to WrestleMania?
What is his Road to WrestleMania?

Ziggler relinquished the US championship a couple of months back. He then made a huge return at the Royal Rumble.

However, he hasn’t achieved anything since then. His appearance in the Royal Rumble match was short-lived. Not to mention, his performance wasn’t the one to stand out in the lot at the Fastlane either.

Given the dedicated workhorse he is, he does deserve a one-on-one match at WrestleMania. Otherwise, it will be far too late for him to wait for the next year.

Who would he face? Could it be Shane McMahon? Opinions are welcome in the comments section.

#5 Cena pushed away the camera

Cena has never done that!
Cena has never done that before

There has never been a moment where John Cena has been rattled in his Hall of Fame career. However, it seemed that being not able to find a way to get to WrestleMania is “just” getting under his skin.

After the match, John Cena pushed away the camera as the cameraman tried to take a closer shot at his frustration. Ironically, the cameraman was pushed to focus on the winner, but he focused back on Cena in a matter of moments.

With the build-up which John Cena and WWE is making over the last couple of months, isn’t it time to hear the gong?
