Owens vs Zayn
Before making his way to WWE in 2013, Sami Zayn had worked in several independent promotions, with his most notable stint being in Ring of Honor. Dubbed as El Generico, Zayn won the ROH World Tag Team titles alongside Kevin Steen on one occasion. In late 2009, Steen turned on Generico following a loss to The Young Bucks. The year-long feud ended with Generico picking up a win over Steen that led to the latter's exit from ROH.

In WWE NXT, Steen, now dubbed as Owens, attacked Zayn minutes after the former had defeated Neville to win the NXT title. This kicked off a feud between the two, which culminated at WWE NXT TakeOver: Rival.
Owens won the match and the NXT title via referee stoppage. The former best friends feuded on the main roster as well, but later settled their differences and became two of the biggest heels on SmackDown. Owens and Sami took on a returning Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34, with the babyfaces picking up the win.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
