5 WWE Superstars you won't believe were Tag Team Champions together

Did you know about these Tag Team Champions?
Did you know about these Tag Team Champions?

Two is better than one.

This simple rule is valid everywhere in this world. As we all know, Professional Wrestling is also a community of wrestlers. Here we have singles Superstars, main event Superstars, jobbers, and tag team Superstars. Talking about WWE, their tag team division has changed a lot in the past few years.

At one point we had amazing tag teams of Shawn Michaels and Triple H, The Undertaker and Kane, Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy. However, nowadays, tag teams are no longer interesting.

I wouldn’t be wrong to say that the tag team division played a significant role in the success of WWE. But, not every tag team was great. Some wrestlers were oddly paired with each other in a tag team.

Despite their differences, WWE decided to proceed with them anyway. However, what's surprising is that it resulted in some unique Tag Team Champions. In this article, we will take a look at 5 such examples.

#5 Edge and Hulk Hogan

Edge is remembered for working in one of the most interesting of all-time with his best friend Christian. They both were together since the beginning of their careers and had also won Tag Team Championships on many different occasions.

However, during the 2000s, WWE separated Edge and Christian. Then the former started working as a singles Superstar and was successful in doing so. In 2002, Edge got injured which kept him out for a few weeks.

He returned after one month and the WWE formed his alliance with Hulk Hogan. And surprisingly, they defeated Billy and Chuck for the Tag Team Championships. However, their tag team didn't last long and they lost the title 19 days later at Vengeance pay-per-view to Christian and Lance Storm.

You may not know about the odd tag team of The Rock and The Undertaker as it didn't last long. Both wrestlers were working on a full-time basis during the Attitude Era and we all know how crazy storylines were of that time. Something similar also happened with The Rock and The Undertaker.

They both were feuding in 2000 and it fixed a match between the two wrestlers. However, there's something interesting coming up. After just 24 hours facing each other at Armageddon PPV, The Brahma Bull and The Deadman teamed up together on Monday Night Raw and faced the Edge and Christian, who were Tag Team Champions that time.

Both Superstars surprisingly defeated the champions and became the new WWE Tag Team Champions. What's more interesting is that they both remained champions for just 24 hours!

The following night on Smackdown, Edge and Christian regained their titles and it was the end of this odd tag team.

John Cena and Batista started receiving a push from WWE at almost the same time. Both wrestlers were also equally popular among the WWE Universe. Cena is a 16-time WWE Champion but at one time, he was also a Tag Team Champion (with Batista any many others).

Batista, on the other hand, didn't accomplish the same things as Cena but he was still a notable name in the WWE. In 2008, everyone wanted to see a match between the two. However, all of a sudden, the WWE decided to book a tag team match between Cena and Batista vs Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase who were Tag Team Champions that time.

Fans thought that WWE would create some sort of confusion between the two so that they could start a rivalry. However, everyone was left shocked when the duo managed to defeat Rhodes and DiBiase for the titles. Although, they lost their titles a week later and started their rivalry.

Even though CM Punk has left wrestling a few years ago, the fans will never forget him. The WWE Universe will continue chanting "CM Punk" whenever they want.

Most of you already know that Punk's character was that of a narcissist in WWE. However, he is not like that in real life. Punk dominated the WWE during the 2010s and was in the World Heavyweight Title scene for most of the year. But, do you know that Punk once won the Tag Team Titles with Kofi Kingston?

In 2011, Kingston and Punk teamed up to take on against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for the WWE World Tag Team Championships and they ended up winning the match. However, they didn't keep the same for long as they lost their titles in just a few months to John Morrison and The Miz at a live event.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, the greatest Superstars of the WWE, has undoubtedly achieved a lot in his career. His rivalry with Vince McMahon had a huge impact in Raw's rating and this is why the fans still consider it as a blockbuster feud.

On the other side, we have Mick Foley, the Superstar with three faces, who also won multiple titles during his spell in the WWE. When Steve Austin won the Tag Team Title with Shawn Michaels, fans were happy.

However, an unfortunate injury caused the HBK to miss some time of action. Austin was forced to vacate the titles but he didn't want to do so. He then faced Owen Hart and The British Bulldog for the Tag Team Titles and in between the match, Dude Love made his debut and became champion with Austin. Both Superstars defended their titles for weeks before Austin's neck was injured by Owen Hart in 1997.
