At WWE TLC 2019, The Kabuki Warriors defeated the makeshift tag team of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in the main event of the show, in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. A past rivalry emerged out of this feud, with Asuka challenging Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's title. At Royal Rumble 2020, Becky defeated Asuka by submission to retain her title belt. This was a pretty significant win for Lynch, as things didn't turn out this way exactly a year ago, at the 2019 Royal Rumble PPV.
Last year, Asuka defeated Lynch to retain her SmackDown Women's title at the WWE Royal Rumble PPV. Lynch went on to win the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble match and ultimately stood victorious in the main event of WWE WrestleMania 35. She went on to successfully defend her title against formidable opponents like Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks, but the loss against Asuka was still in her mind all this time. Lynch finally put Asuka down and carried that momentum to WrestleMania, where she defeated Shayna Baszler to retain the belt.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
