5 Possible feuds for AJ Styles after Extreme Rules

AJ Styles is at crossroads now

With the events that transpired at Extreme Rules – AJ Styles losing to Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins returning and delivering a Pedigree to Roman Reign s, and on RAW –where Shane McMahon setup a match between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and AJ Styles failed to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Unfortunately, it does look like AJ Styles has been pushed down the the midcard, which incidentally has a lot of potential main-eventers. His current feud with Roman Reigns has come to an abrupt end it seems. AJ Styles should have come out on top, but how can we expect that from WWE creative?

Here’s 5 potential feuds for AJ Styles

#5 Samoa Joe

WWE can re-ignite this rivalry from TNA

It’s no secret that Samoa Joe and AJ Styles have met in the ring before. They’ve had several encounters in TNA and the Triple Threat Match between Joe, Styles and perhaps Styles’ biggest rival ever, Christopher Daniels at Turning Point 2005 is considered to be one of the greatest matches ever. TNA tried to recreate the magic again in 2009 at Turning Point. The match was not as great as the one which had four years prior, but it was unsurprisingly awesome nonetheless. I can’t wait for Samoa Joe to make his jump to one of the two brands and re-ignite his rivalry with AJ Styles.

#4 Finn Balor

Balor and Styles has WrestleMania main event written all over it

This is one for the ages. Finn Balor vs AJ Styles would be one heck of a match. We all know that AJ Styles took over the Bullet Club after Prince Devitt (Finn Balor) left NJPW. Who wouldn’t want to see the former leaders of the biggest heel stables in pro-wrestling battle it out? Finn Balor is currently in NXT and will battle Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship at NXT Takeover: The End.

It is expected that Finn Balor will make his RAW or SmackDown debut. When he does, he might just go after AJ Styles.

#3 Randy Orton

Can Styles survive an RKO out of nowhere?

It really is not clear when Randy Orton will make his return, but we’re all hoping he returns soon. This is going to be another interesting feud. Best known for his heel runs, it is possible that he will feud with a babyface AJ Styles. It’s also not clear as to how Orton is going to be booked after his return. He might also go after Rollins, but since he’s getting a championship push, and the Authority angle looks over, it’s not likely that they’ll face each other. The two are seasoned veterans now and I’d love to see them feud.

#2 John Cena

A feud with John Cena is a great opportunity for Styles to establish himself, only if booked correctly

John Cena is all set on return on Monday. He was the face of the WWE for almost a decade and AJ Styles was the biggest guy at TNA. A clash between these two would interesting to watch. But given Cena’s history of “burying” stars, a feud with Cena could spell doom even for the Phenomenal One’s WWE career. I only hope if these two feud, it’s booked properly.

If Cean get’s clean wins over Styles, who suffered three straight losses, two to Reigns and one cleanly against Owens, AJ Styles might get relegated to the midcard for a really long time.

#1 Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

Karl Anderson can wrestle a singles match like a main eventer

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are no longer AJ Styles’ allies. They two weren’t too pleased with the fact that their help wasn't appreciated enough by Styles. Styles made it clear that he doesn’t want their help. While this may not be a falling out, things are likely to turn sour and it may lead to Gallows and Anderson attacking AJ Styles during a match. Gallows and Anderson will keep costing Styles matches or delivering beatdowns by interfering, which will spark a feud.

But will AJ Styles be able to face them alone? Styles doesn’t really have any allies now. If Finn Balor doesn’t feud with Styles, he might just come to his rescue and fight by his side.
