What does WWE have in store with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar?

Brock Lesnar stunned the world when he returned at the end of SummerSlam to confront Roman Reigns. The two look set to embark on an epic rivalry, involving various twists and turns.

WWE fans may have previously been fed up with Reigns and Lesnar's encounters from a few years ago but this time, things are different. The alignments are the right way, with The Beast Incarnate making his grand return to WWE as a babyface opposite the villainous Tribal Chief.

Roman Reigns' year-long run as Universal Champion has been excellent, with every single storyline of his working well. This is set to be no different, especially with the intrigue surrounding Paul Heyman.

It seems like Lesnar will be involved with the Universal Champion at Crown Jewel and possibly Survivor Series, but how will the angle transpire? What side will Heyman be on? Who will win?

Here are five possible twists in the upcoming angle between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. Let us know your predictions down in the comments.

#5 Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar form a short-lived alliance thanks to Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman would not be happy with the way SummerSlam ended. He was visibly stunned and shaken as Brock Lesnar entered the ring to face off with Roman Reigns. What will the Special Counsel to The Tribal Chief have to say about it?

He may try to get Reigns and Lesnar on the same page through their joint association with him. Lest we forget, Heyman is a master manipulator. It would be interesting to see him form a two-man power trip with them.

They would be absolutely unstoppable together, for whatever brief period this alliance lasts. It would be a fun plot point, showcasing a completely unique side to both megastars.

Reigns and Lesnar could win a novelty tag team match at Crown Jewel before their inevitable rivalry goes ahead for Survivor Series. If it does happen, they would form the most overpowered team in WWE history.

#4 Paul Heyman turns babyface and sides with Brock Lesnar

Again, the most intriguing aspect of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar's impending rivalry is Paul Heyman's role in it. He may be on The Tribal Chief's side but that isn't guaranteed to stick.

His role alongside either star is vastly different. Heyman is more reserved under Reigns, making up the background to react to his actions and acting very much as an assistant. However, he is much more upbeat with Lesnar and is a major part of the act.

Could this change of pace sway Paul Heyman back towards Brock Lesnar? It would certainly be a happy reunion between two old friends. Roman Reigns likely wouldn't take too kindly to being betrayed, though.

#3 Brock Lesnar wins the Universal Championship from Roman Reigns

The general belief is that Roman Reigns will keep the Universal Championship until at least WrestleMania 38, to remain protected for a match against The Rock. It is possible and as a result, many are tipping The Head of the Table to stand tall over Brock Lesnar.

But what if the tables turn, and The Beast Incarnate takes the Universal Title? It certainly would be a huge shocker, but never say never when he is involved. He is known to win big matches out of the blue.

Perhaps, Paul Heyman's babyface turn could be the catalyst towards Lesnar becoming the new Universal Champion. This would lead to Reigns' saga with The Rock not involving any world title.

#2 Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns perform a double turn

Brock Lesnar is the babyface in his upcoming rivalry against Roman Reigns. This is the dynamic between both superstars that the fans always wanted to see, but will it remain that way?

The eight-time WWE world champion as a good guy is extremely combustible. He could turn heel at any given moment - even during a match. Could Lesnar's relentless strikes cause a double turn? It could prove to be detrimental to Reigns.

However, WWE may be interested in turning The Tribal Chief babyface. If that is the case, expect the two to return to their original alignments. Meanwhile, Paul Heyman could revert to Lesnar's corner, remaining a heel.

#1 Roman Reigns squashes Brock Lesnar

As mentioned earlier, most WWE fans expect Roman Reigns to retain his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar. What may shock them if The Tribal Chief utterly destroyed his next challenger and squashed him.

There is good reason to believe it might happen, either at Crown Jewel or at Survivor Series. Lesnar does not wrestle long matches in Saudi Arabia, which could lead to a quickfire match at the October pay-per-view. Meanwhile, a squash match at Survivor Series would be a callback to 2016.

Goldberg decimated Lesnar in 86 seconds and looked magnificent in doing so. Imagine what it would do for Roman Reigns if he tears The Beast Incarnate in half, essentially in a role reversal from WrestleManias 31 and 34.
